Re: Good places to sell your car

My Scirocco is now sold. What a sad day to see it go. :(

Such a great car. I really miss the handling and acceleration.

I'm not back in the Golf club and I have to admit its a great car too in its own right but it made me realise how awesome the Scirocco was.

All the best folks and happy driving.

Re: Good places to sell your car

Mileage is just short of 58k. For all the bad press eBay has always worked for me. Tend to sell outside of that site as some always makes me a good offer. It's great for getting stacks of pics to show your car off if you do a html based advert. Be sad to let the car go as it's perfect with no proble...

Re: Good places to sell your car

without tempting fate i have had two people call me about mine. the 2nd made a better offer, left a deposit so ended up taking theirs and pulled it off ebay now. Its a few hundred less than what Parkers guide says for 'good' condition which I believe mine is beyond that but hey ho I need to let it g...

Re: Good places to sell your car

I've only had one call through gumtree - wanting to know if there was any movement in my price, i said no since it was early days and never heard back. Pretty disappointing but maybe a Scirocco is a seasonal type of car. Who knows. One things for sure, these car are worth what they are worth so not ...

Golf MK7 steering whine

How do, I know this is a long shot as its the wrong type of forum but expect the underlying mechanics are similar between cars. I'm going to be buying a 2nd hand Golf MK7 TDi in a couple of weeks and the one i'm getting has (to me) a concerned whine noise it makes when turing the steering wheel stat...

Re: Good places to sell your car

Hello there, thanks for the feedback. I'll put it up in the for sale section to see if anyone is interested. I'm an enthusiast myself and take pride in my car so hopefully can find someone who's the same. In terms of spec about the standard 2010 GT 170 TDi I had the following things installed: Vienn...

Good places to sell your car

Hiya, The time has come to let go of my Scirocco, need something a bit more practical. I think will be a good buy as its fully loaded with extras but I understand this doesn't really add much to the value. Where do people find is the best place to advertise these days and do Scirocco's generally att...

Re: Variable service intervals confuse dealers and part chan

I'm sure fuel filters are required every 20k. I mean for the cost of them it's worth doing. I always change my oil Inbetween service intervals anyway so it's never in there for more than 10k.

Variable service intervals confuse dealers and part changes

Is it just me or does variable servicing confuse dealers when it comes to what parts get changed at each service? Today I had a 45,000miles service and to my knowledge its only had one fuel filter change and that was at 36,0000 which to me means that by the time my next service is due the filter wil...

Re: VM cambelt post 2010 models now upto 5 years

My friends SDI is currently running 2 years over needing a cambelt change and still appears to be ok on visual inspected. Its totally a risky and i've told them they should do it but the car is only worth a £1000 now so they are seeing how long it'll go till they can chop it in for another car.

VM cambelt post 2010 models now upto 5 years

Hello all, My car has just passed the 4 year of age mark and I was looking to get the cambelt changed until I read this: http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/servicing/what-we-check-and-why/cambelt-change My car is a 2010 model so I'm guessing this buys me more time now as my mileage is quite low. I s...

Re: Should I reset service indicator

If your car is out of warranty and the service stamps look legit and you are quite handy I'd consider dropping the oils yourself and then reset the indicator.

Re: Clutch Judder From Cold 2.0 TSi

My 2.0 TDi 170 has done this from new mate, in fact my old Golf TDi was the same. Sometimes its more promenant when cold, sometimes its not that bad but yes when it warms up it fine. More noticable when going up hills from start off. I've got 53,000miles on mine and its the same hasn't got worse. I ...

Cigarette lighter power after ignition off

How do, I have a dash camera I used daily to record my journeys for insurance purposes. Noticed that it doesn't acknowlege when the engine is turned off, ends up confusing my camera to the point it crashes and I need to reseat the memory card to get it back to working. One thing I noticed today is t...

Must be a commonly missed part - I was missing one from my passenger door too. They sorted after chasing on my 2nd service!

Re: Sawtooth Tyre Wear

I was told its caused by the wheel alignment mate. The tyres have more negative camber on the rear to give for more sporty setup. My tyre fitter offered to set up for normal use but said enthusiastic driving wouldn't be as good so left as is. If you do more straight line miles as i do then your're m...

Re: Best tyres for Scirocco

Yeah just fitted some Goodyear Eagle F1's to the front of mine (still have Pirelli P7's on rear) and seems fine so far, I reckon I get more feedback from them. Be interesting to see if the centers wear out as bad as they did with the Pirelli's.

Re: Wheel allignment

Sounds like another case of poor wheel balancing regards your wobble under acceleration. Most garages can only do static balancing which doesn't accurately deal with certain forces which act in the wheel at speed... Apparently larger alloys are more susceptible to this. No matter what smaller garage...
