Rubber gromits in the door sills
Hey all
I have recently brought my rocco and one of the rubber gromits in the hole in the door sill is missing.
I have been to a VW dealer but they cannot find the part.
My description is pretty useless but its a hole that a kinda of bracket on the bottom of the door sits in.
Any help would be awesome.
Thanks in advance.

I believe the part you require is 1K8837707, its listed in the "83100. DOORS; DOOR HINGE; DOOR SEAL" part of the parts lists.

Probably have to go to a stealer or TPS for that sort of specialist one car item.

Must be a commonly missed part - I was missing one from my passenger door too. They sorted after chasing on my 2nd service!

Re: Rubber gromits in the door sills
I noticed the bracket on the door that pokes through the hole when the door closes. Never seen it on other cars. What does the bracket do - part of the deadlock system maybe?

Re: Rubber gromits in the door sills
Nothing to do with the deadlock system. It part of the side impact protection system and it's function is to hold tbe bottom of the door in place and stop it rotating on a horizontal axis around the door latch.and stop the the top of the door encroaching into the passenger compartment during a side impact. My little Up! also has them so I would expect they are fitted across the whole VW range.jackhay wrote:I noticed the bracket on the door that pokes through the hole when the door closes. It sounds like a good idea, thanks for the explanation. It's not present on my wife's Golf Mk5 so obviously it's a more recent development.Cuprabob wrote: It's part of the side impact protection system and its function is to hold tbe bottom of the door in place and stop it rotating on a horizontal axis around the door latch.and stop the the top of the door encroaching into the passenger compartment during a side impact. Yes, it's quite a recent addition to the model range and is no doubt.a requirement to meet the highest NCAP standards.
