Good places to sell your car
Hiya,
The time has come to let go of my Scirocco, need something a bit more practical. I think will be a good buy as its fully loaded with extras but I understand this doesn't really add much to the value.
Where do people find is the best place to advertise these days and do Scirocco's generally attract a lot 2nd hand buying interest?

Re: Good places to sell your car
Hello there, thanks for the feedback. I'll put it up in the for sale section to see if anyone is interested. I'm an enthusiast myself and take pride in my car so hopefully can find someone who's the same.
In terms of spec about the standard 2010 GT 170 TDi I had the following things installed:
Vienna leather with heating and electic lumbar support.
Dynadio 8 speaker with 300w amp.
Rear parking sensors.
Electric folding mirrors.
Center console upgrade.
I've got it on eBay at i think a fair price.

Re: Good places to sell your car
Whatever you do don't use gumtree, I posted my Golf on there when I was first looking to sell it.
Over the next few days I got scam text after scam texts a couple "how much would you drop the price by for cash today" and no genuine interest. Complete waste of time really.

Re: Good places to sell your car
Thanks for the advice, I have my 170 GT on Autotrader and have had 1 call in 3 week so was going to try Gumtree... don't think I will now! I have tried eBay in the past, but might give it a go again... have you had much (sensible) interest?

Re: Good places to sell your car
I've only had one call through gumtree - wanting to know if there was any movement in my price, i said no since it was early days and never heard back.
Pretty disappointing but maybe a Scirocco is a seasonal type of car. Who knows.
One things for sure, these car are worth what they are worth so not going to give it away for a cheap price...

Re: Good places to sell your car
without tempting fate i have had two people call me about mine. the 2nd made a better offer, left a deposit so ended up taking theirs and pulled it off ebay now. Its a few hundred less than what Parkers guide says for 'good' condition which I believe mine is beyond that but hey ho I need to let it go to get the funds for my next arrival.
Avoid webuyanycar... they went to town on those small stone chips saying it needed £600 worth of effort to sorted out... apparently they don't really do anything.. its just a rouse to get the price down.

Well done that's good news... Just can't understand why I am not getting any phone calls at all... What mileage is yours? Also did you get the interest from eBay? Might try it this weekend...mikealpha60 wrote:without tempting fate i have had two people call me about mine. the 2nd made a better offer, left a deposit so ended up taking theirs and pulled it off ebay now. Mileage is just short of 58k.
For all the bad press eBay has always worked for me. Tend to sell outside of that site as some always makes me a good offer. It's great for getting stacks of pics to show your car off if you do a html based advert.
Be sad to let the car go as it's perfect with no problems. Had my circumstances have been different I would have kept it as long as I could.

Re: Good places to sell your car
My Scirocco is now sold. What a sad day to see it go.
Such a great car. I really miss the handling and acceleration.
I'm not back in the Golf club and I have to admit its a great car too in its own right but it made me realise how awesome the Scirocco was.
All the best folks and happy driving.
