VM cambelt post 2010 models now upto 5 years
Hello all,
My car has just passed the 4 year of age mark and I was looking to get the cambelt changed until I read this:
http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/serv ... elt-change
My car is a 2010 model so I'm guessing this buys me more time now as my mileage is quite low.
I searched this forum but couldn't find any related discussions to this; presume this is a well known fact now?

My friends SDI is currently running 2 years over needing a cambelt change and still appears to be ok on visual inspected. Its totally a risky and i've told them they should do it but the car is only worth a £1000 now so they are seeing how long it'll go till they can chop it in for another car.

I would wait until the car's 5th birthday to change it. On the CR diesels the mileage linit is 120k miles for cambelt.warrenlord wrote:10 plate coming upto 37-38k, should i just change at 40k ?

It's a major service without cambelt change at 40K, except that if you have DSG, you should get the gearbox oil changed too.

my official dealer says 5 years or 120,000 miles and my local german car specialist says if he had my car he would change at 80,000miles. My car is 4.5 years old so due it this summer but with only 46k on the clock im not doin it this year.
