It might be due to the oil itself,for example my prebvious car used about 1liter of oil in 5k when Triple QX was used compared to Castrol edge that halved the consumption.
In regards to grade i've used both and have not noticed any difference.

It costs £180 for dsg oil and filter change at any vw dealer.

With an R you're looking at 25-30mpg,on mway you might get 35,i don't )

I bought brand new r and it's on 19" with bridgestone tyres and my god is it noisy, especially at motorway speeds. Grip in the dry is good but as soon as it gets a bit wet they have no grip at all, I am mister unimpressed and as soon they get worn I'm swapping them for goodyear f1 assymetric 2....

That engine is clearly the ea113 not the ea888, probably just a remapped version.

That video I think proves that the R has the same engine as before.They only mentioned the 280bhp,0-60 time, no lower emissions, no lower consumption, basically nothing new,engine wise.Probably a light remap.
