Hi
Ive done some searching , but nothing came up.
So , I want to change the radio to an android 4.2 system. It's can bus friendly, and looks the same as the current VW radios.
My question is, does anyone know if this would effect the warranty of the car at all ? (obviously the radio wouldnt be covered)
Thanks in advance.
Mark

Re: Will changing radio void warranty ?
It will void the warranty of the new radio, as you said and any part that has been affected by the new head unit, for example a short circuit took place and damaged let's say the climate control unit and they pin pointed the cause as being the incorect instalation of the new unit then i believe that claim would be rejected.Everything else that has not been tampered with would still be under warranty. Hope that makes sense.

I have no experience so do your own reasearch but I have read that FM radio reception on the Android powered stereo's is preety poor. Look into it.

Ok thanks guys. I shall do some further research .
I shall update if I decide to proceed with the install.

just to update.. the android 4.2 touch screen system is brilliant. It looks exactly the same as the current touch screen standard radio.. but its a full blown android system.
It has wifi, bluetooth - with no need for all the cables etc., internal storage, external storage. Access to google play etc....
I mainly use it for Spotify, google navigation and bluetooth calls etc. I have a 1gb 4g wifi router plugged into a usb cable from the radio to the glove box, for when i need a quick log onto the net - say to get a quick navigation via google.
The only downside is - yes, you do lose Radio quality. its still there, but its not great... but I partly knew this would be the case, and i didnt mind.
