Re: Tyres What to choose!
I personally like Goodyear eagle F1's but the pirelli P zero Rosso are also a very good tyre both are of a softer compound though I believe and with a fair amount of enthusiastic driving im lucky to see 10,000 miles out of them :-)

Re: colour
Rising Blue for me but obviously biased with that one and I don't believe the R looks better in any other colour either.
IMO I don't like white and especially silver on any car to be honest but that's me. Viper green would have been my next choice :-)

Re: Error 00665 - Limp mode and Engine light
Update from me, I took mine into a very respectable Audi/VW specialist in hull called Auto technica who diagnosed it in less than 5 mins. It was the turbo actuator found to be faulty and was sorted the same day :-) £200 but its all done now and feels better than ever to be honest. Doing a little res...

Re: Error 00665 - Limp mode and Engine light
Have you found anything more out on this buddy? mine has just done exactly the same as you explain and now feels dead no power until at least 3k then limp mode at 4k with coil light on saying engine fault take to workshop  ive found a few things on the turbo actuators prone to be faulty as they...

Re: Should I be worried?
The registration database look up can have errors but the insurance database should have the 177 variant on it. Go onto any insurance website and start a quote and see if it gives you the 177 option and if so get back onto your insurance company. It's very.unlikey it will change the premium but it ...

Re: Differences in TDI engines
I brought the car from a customer at my work. (Independent vw specialist) it already had updated turbo and injectors which he claimed were from the 170 but car wasn't running smooth. I uprated the intercooler, removed the dpf filter and cat, carbon induction and took it for map. I have had the car ...

Re: Differences in TDI engines
I had the 140 pd in an A3 and now the 170 CR in the Roc. Its a no brainer really as there isnt any price difference between really. Niether will snap your neck and DO not expect 200+ on a 140 with a remap as ive never heard of that on any 140 pd or cr. Only way you get them figures is hibrid turbs, ...

Re: tdi scirocco started then cut out and wont start
Daft as this may sound, have you tried disconnecting the negative on the battery for 30 secs then reconnect and try turning it over. this used to solve the immobiliser issue on my A3 till i got the chip in the clocks renewed. used to be o.k. for a few weeks then just wouldnt start do the above and f...

Re: turbo fault(acctuator) and egr problem
How did the new EGR valve perform geronimo? Im just curious. ive not heard of any problems with the turbo actuator on the 170 and to be fair its very quiet on egr issues with the Roc 170 in general. I only do short journeys and not had a problem with mine (touch wood) previous I owned an A3 2.0 tdi ...

Re: A45 AMG new kid in town
I am currently in the process of getting ready to change mine too allthough i drive oil burners :) (personal pref) I do however like the A class especially the A45 amg but im also a big fan of the Audi A5/S5/RS5 imho Audi are far better on build quality than VW even though they share the same chassi...

Re: Rattle on 170 at low revs
Just another quick one, the above helped but it still rattled a little so ive now felt taped the rim on the cover of the air intake scoop and round the inner edge of the intake u bend where it enters the air box as this wasnt a very good fit. Its all tight now (with a little flex still) and know rat...

Re: What is the difference
Sorry you are right paralla, i appologise for me seeming awkward with this but i have now learned that they are DOHC 16v units. The second cam is ran via cog gearing from the 1st as you quite rightly mentioned. My mind is at rest now, im also sorry for kinda hijacking the thread. Thanks for the know...
