Re: Shock Absorber Life

I priced up a set of DCC shocks from VW and it was around the £600 mark :(

Normal shocks are around £300 a set.

I did a scenic trip of the south coast of the UK last year. Cheshire to kent via the Cotswolds, then a day trip to France, followed by a days driving along the south coast to Somerset. It was only there that I had to re-fuel

Re: Scirocco facelift spied in the US

I've just read in Auto Express that although the facelift is due in March at Geneva it wont go on sale until August. My car has 122,000 miles on the clock and by August nearly 140,000 although everything is great with my car and runs faultlessly, I don't know if I can wait that long. looks like its...

Re: DCC Durability

I've not heard of any system failures, only Shock absorbers failing. I priced up a set of shocks from VW, an eye watering £600 for the set!!

Re: Brake disk and pad advice please

Just out of interest was your 380bhp on AMD's dyno??

A stage 2+ K04 TFSI typically gets about 340-350bhp. 370+BHP requires water methanol injection (WMI)

My TDI 170 has an auxiliary heater which warms up almost instantly. Warm air out of the vents within 30secs

Think this is standard on the TDI's?

I've noticed this too and it was the same on my MK5 Golf GTI. It's not a fault with yours, it seems all VW's on this platform do it

Re: Drowned my Scirocco, any lasting damage?

If it's driving ok without any misfires or engine Fault lights then fingers crossed it's ok. Could have just been a bit of water in the electrics. Worst case is that water has got into the air intake located at the bottom of the bonnet. If you engine has injested water you could have bent your con r...

Re: Thinking of buying a scirocco , so many questions!!!!

The 170 & 177 will be the same engine with a minor software modification - so they will be very much the same to drive, make the same sounds and probably almost identical economy too. Can't help with the DSG economy but my manual does 55mpg on a steady 70mph run using cruise control. Don't have ...

Re: Why does my Scirocco shifts faster with LC?

The is a sort of static rev limiter (my TDI has one for definite).

Tbh launch control isn't the best way to get off the line quicky in a 2wd car, your better launching more slowly and feeding in the power progressively to get the best start. LC on a 4wd Golf R is awesome though!

Re: Why does my Scirocco shifts faster with LC?

There's no button specifically, you have to turn off ESP, gearbox into sport, hold down brake and accelerator at same time. Revs hold at a point, take your foot off brake. Pretty sure it's in my manual :) Edit: see here http://youtu.be/hgEK17Ffslk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return fa...

Re: Why does my Scirocco shifts faster with LC?

I was under the impression that the dsg can`t handle a lot of LC starts. VW also knows what you`ve done when they plug in their gadgets. So if the dsg fails you won`t be covered if still under warranty. As the LC is a feature of the gearbox I don't think they can argue that you have used it too muc...

Re: Why does my Scirocco shifts faster with LC?

A little off topic but I had a passenger ride in a Golf R DSG which was Stage 3 (slightly bigger turbo) - running around 400bhp. LC was unreal :D it actually made me feel sick! 0-60 in 3.4 seconds  having watched the constancy of that car at Inters last year mk7 Golf R DSG was an easy choice e...
