I'm a new owner of 2013 Scirocco 2.0 TSI DSG and I'm in love with this thing as it took me quite a beating to get used to it. I'll make this quick.
As soon as I passed break-in period according to the manual I wanted to try out launch control on my way back to home (I almost vomited, no kidding). I had a blast but what I realized is that the DSG was shifting faster than usual. There is always a short stop between shifts when accelerating normally either D or S but with launch control it's non-stop and the car sounds better this way.
But why does this happen with launch control? It's as if the clutch is slipping slightly but man that's cool
I also realized after a couple of WOTs the car sounds slightly louder than usual for a short moment.
A little off topic but I had a passenger ride in a Golf R DSG which was Stage 3 (slightly bigger turbo) - running around 400bhp. LC was unreal it actually made me feel sick! 0-60 in 3.4 seconds

having watched the constancy of that car at Inters last year mk7 Golf R DSG was an easy choice especially if Stage 1 they will pump out 370bhp

Absolutely. And the DSG & haldex can handle 1000's of launches, not that anyone would do as many as Hurdy
I was under the impression that the dsg can`t handle a lot of LC starts. VW also knows what you`ve done when they plug in their gadgets. So if the dsg fails you won`t be covered if still under warranty.

As the LC is a feature of the gearbox I don't think they can argue that you have used it too much and that's why it's failed. As long as the car is serviced properly and the gearbox hasn't been modified in any way, then warranty is valid. The handbook doesn't say to limit the use of it, so make the most of it
The chap myself an Wigit know has done thousands of hard launches and he says it just keeps getting better and better. The DSG boxes are very robust and the majority of the failures that do happen are electrical systems, not mechanical failures

LOL! My manual doesn't mention anything about Launch Control. I thought there is a button next to TCS that activates Launch Control.
Best part is when you use LC and chirp on 2nd. Happened to me once .. felt like I'm driving a V8 muscle.
There's no button specifically, you have to turn off ESP, gearbox into sport, hold down brake and accelerator at same time. Revs hold at a point, take your foot off brake.
Pretty sure it's in my manual

The is a sort of static rev limiter (my TDI has one for definite).
Tbh launch control isn't the best way to get off the line quicky in a 2wd car, your better launching more slowly and feeding in the power progressively to get the best start. LC on a 4wd Golf R is awesome though!
