Boot light/power socket low voltage
I've run into a really odd problem. The boot light doesn't work. Further investigations show it's getting about 0.3V. So I checked the power socekt in the boot too. It's putting out 3V. I pulled the trim away today and checked the wiring was free and running ok, checked at the pins in the connectors...

Re: RCD510 slow reading SD cards
Mine normally starts playing somewhere around the end of my street, so maybe 30-40 seconds.I experimented a bit and it seems just to be the amount on there that slows it down.

I bought a pair from my local tyre place this morning for a few quid shy of £300 so yes, that's a fair price.

Re: Heated door mirrors - Dont laugh !!
The dealer told me (and experience tends to agree) that if you set the mirror control to the heaty symbol they will be on when the heated rear window is on.

Red lights above mirror
I just noticed the two little red lights above the mirror shining down. Couldn't find any reference on here by searching, and I just have to know... what are they for?!?

I ran mine at 35. Burned out the middle of the fronts really quickly.
Now they're at 31.

Don't forget the obvious stuff, like mentioning you're in an owners' club (forum member is normally enough) and once you've found who is the cheapest see if you can click through to them via quidco and get a load of cashback.

I also run a kit car so learned early on to go to a specialist. I've always done best with Glynwood or Adrian Flux, for both cars.

RCD510 - Am I doing it wrong?
I have the RCD510. And buttons on the steering wheel that drive it. Kind of. To change to a different folder/album I'm going through the following every time: 1. Press "Selection" on the screen 2. Press the fiddly, tiny little "folder up" button in the top left corner 3. Choose t...

Re: How is a diesel car more expensive to run?
In reply to the question in the topic, my experience so far is that it isn't. Costs about the same to run as my 1.2 punto used to (until you need tyres or insurance :-/). As said already diesels are assumed to be more expensive to buy new. Heated seats are amazing. It makes some sense to buy from VW...

I just got a pair of the P7s, only because that's what was on there before. They're fine. That price is about right.

Re: Autoglym Extra Gloss
I was wondering about those same things. I got mine nice and clean 2 weeks ago, then hit it with the "Super resin polish" (never sure how much of that to use either btw), wiped that off, then wiped it over with the extra gloss protection stuff. It's not clear how much you're supposed to us...

Re: Auto heating setting
That could be down to sunlight. It has a light sensor which n the summer compensates for the cabin being exposed to direct sunlight by blowing cold air. I'm pretty sure the winter sun fools it. No no, what I mean is soon after you start the engine it'll blow loads of air through the heater, which i...

Re: Auto heating setting
Just be aware that it's completely oblivious to how long the engine's been running, so in these wintery days it'll think it's doing you a favour by blowing hurricane force freezing cold air in your face when you start up.

Re: Scirocco + Snowboards?
I put the seat down to get my board in. Didn't even try with it up so can't really answer your question, but if it helps any it didn't look like it'd go. Rear headrests are going to be an issue any way you try it. Maybe if you raised the passenger seat all the way up (they go really high!) you could...

Re: Insuring the Rocco
Totally agree with the above, but for me it's a simple 2 step, 15 minute process every year when I get the brazen bare-faced farcical renewal: 1) Visit comparison sites and note down best price 2) Call my current insurer (Adrian Flux) and tell them I'll give them that or nothing They haven't said no...
