Heated door mirrors - Dont laugh !!
OK , i cant believe I'm actually asking this - i feel like such a noob ! I couldn't find the answer in the handbook , so here goes
How do i turn on my heated door mirrors ? - or do they come on automatically when i switch on the heated rear window ? (like they did on my '02 Bora)
I have a little 'heated mirror logo' on my door mirror switch , when my sidelights are on , it's lit up in red like the rest of my switches / buttons.
When they are on - does the little heated mirror logo on my door mirror switch light up yellow to indicate that the mirror heaters are working ?
thanks
Lee

Re: Heated door mirrors - Dont laugh !!
See that little heated mirror logo on the mirror adjust switch, well you rotate the knob until the white dot lines up with it and they switch on. Even if you leave the switch on the "on" position and forget to put it back to "L", "0" or "R", they switch off automatically after around 10mins.
I'm not sure about this one, but the heated mirrors may only operate when the ambient temperature is below 5 degrees.
If you have electrically folding mirrors there is another position for folding.

^^ this.
They only come on when needed below a set temperature as I understand it too

The dealer told me (and experience tends to agree) that if you set the mirror control to the heaty symbol they will be on when the heated rear window is on.

Re: Heated door mirrors - Dont laugh !!
Probably only because, the ambient temperature tends to be below 5 degrees when you use the heated rear window and as you have it on the "heaty" symbol the mirrors will heat for around 10mins when you first start the car. Next time don't bother to switch on the heated rear window and your mirrors will still heat.Dimbit wrote:The dealer told me (and experience tends to agree) that if you set the mirror control to the heaty symbol they will be on when the heated rear window is on.
There would be no need for a heating setting on the mirror switch if they worked off the heated rear window switch, which was the case on the MK4 Golf.

Re: Heated door mirrors - Dont laugh !!
Isn't that only the case with folding mirrors. As I recall on mine (without folding mirrors) the "0" position between L & R turned on the heating elements. They certainly were not linked to the heated rear window and I don't think they were governed by the external temperature as I often turned them on to dry off fine rain drops.Cuprabob wrote:See that little heated mirror logo on the mirror adjust switch, well you rotate the knob until the white dot lines up with it and they switch on. Re: Heated door mirrors - Dont laugh !!
I know on the Polo the centre "0" position is the heated position but I'm pretty sure on the Golf / Scirocco there is a separate hesting position on the mirror switch, even if it doesn't have folding mirrors.

Just read the manual and it says they do only operate below a specific temperature, however that temperature is 20 degrees Celcius (68 degrees Faranheit):-)

LOL That would explain how they worked for drying the rain off them in milder weather.Cuprabob wrote:Just read the manual and it says they do only operate below a specific temperature, however that temperature is 20 degrees Celcius (68 degrees Faranheit):-)
The control knob in my TT is very similar to the one I had in the Roc except that the middle position is marked with a heater symbol.

On the TT though, that setting isn't for the mirrors but to heat the GHD Straighteners:-)ZephyR wrote:LOL That would explain how they worked for drying the rain off them in milder weather.Cuprabob wrote:Just read the manual and it says they do only operate below a specific temperature, however that temperature is 20 degrees Celcius (68 degrees Faranheit):-)

Sorry, couldn't resist. I actually like the TT a lot.
I'm only jealous if you have the V6 as I miss the burble from the R32 I had before the Rocco

Re: Heated door mirrors - Dont laugh !!
Can anyone tell me - does the heaty symbol on the door switch definitely light up yellow when the mirror heaters are active ?
