Autoglym Extra Gloss
Hi, could someone advise at what stage during the detailing process is it the correct time to apply the AG Extra Gloss? I've got two bottles and want to use them up before they go off, i dont buy this product normally but got it free so thought i might as well use it up.

Re: Autoglym Extra Gloss
AG Extra Gloss Protection is applied at the end of the detailing process. It is a waxed based sealant that is applied after all of the washing, claying, cleansing and polishing have been done. When the paintwork is at the standard that you wish to preserve it in, apply the product as directed. There is no need to apply any other hard or soft waxes over this layer or any synthetic sealants. The product will give 4-6 months of protection depending on weather, whether the car is garaged, miles driven etc, basically all the things that affect the durability of a coating. To maintain the layer simply wash with a neutral car shampoo to remove new dirt and contaminants from the EGP layer. Avoid TFR's or other strong detergents or you will shorten the life of the sealant. When the layer starts to fade or an improvement in appearance is desired simply wash, dry and reapply, polishing with Super Resin Polish before if required.
I work for Autoglym during the day, you may have guessed, but this is an honest answer about the product and how to use it. Any other AG questions, please ask and I'll do my best to answer them.

Hi Pylon
Can i please ask....what is the best way to apply AG Extra Gloss. Should i put it on like the AG Super Resin Polish in circular motion or just dab it on and then layer it off in straight lines?
Reason i ask is because it is very liquid like and i am never sure of best way to put it on as the bottle says do not apply too much pressure if i remember correctly?
Also, once i have put this on should i then apply some form of wax or is teh Extra Gloss sufficient by itself for a good protection?
I have the full AG green 'briefcase' thing full of AG products which i got after buying it new at the dealers so just wondered how best to use it!
Many thanks

Re: Autoglym Extra Gloss
I was wondering about those same things.
I got mine nice and clean 2 weeks ago, then hit it with the "Super resin polish" (never sure how much of that to use either btw), wiped that off, then wiped it over with the extra gloss protection stuff. It's not clear how much you're supposed to use or how to get it on there, but I just wiped it on gently with a cloth then left it to dry to a dusty haze like the polish does (took ages) then gently buffed that off. Is that right?? It looked amazing, so I guess so.
It still looks pretty good, although needs another quick wash to rinse all the winter s**t off. If I wash it this weekend, can I just whack another layer of the gloss stuff on over the old? Should I?
Tried watching AG's videos on youtube but they just talk b***ocks for 30 seconds then show a guy wiping stuff on for 1 second, cut to a guy wiping the last bit of stuff off for 2 seconds, then another 30 second shot of a bottle in front of a shiny car. Not helpful... Anyone got pics of the various stages? (If they're on here somewhere already, sorry, I promise I'll learn to search better).

Re: Autoglym Extra Gloss
Once you have your EGP on there is no need to do anything with it for 4 - 6 months (apart from normal shampoo washing) unless you have a particular problem. As sealant its designed to work after one application so does not normally need to be re-applied.
