Re: Dead Scirocco

All sorted now. Required a new turbo, catalytic convertor and exhaust system - £1996. Glad I didn,t have to pay for it. Had it back for a week now and everything seems fine. Sent a grumpy letter to VW but no reply as yet, will wait to see what happens. Apart from that I am really glad I didn't just...

Welcome aboard Tom - you'll love it... ! :D Looks, performance, the 'x' factor - the Rocc has it all  Hi Tom I did a 200 mile journey yesterday - 50 mile B roads and 150miles on the A1. Re: Thinking about getting a Scirocco...

Hi Tom I did a 200 mile journey yesterday - 50 mile B roads and 150miles on the A1. The traffic was quite heavy for the first 50 miles but maintained an almost constant speed of 60mph with the odd roundabout. The A1 was clear the entire way home. I averaged 45mpg for the first 50miles and 37 over th...

Re: Z4 M Coupe or Roadster

Definitely the coupe. I was gonna get one of these until I spotted the Scirocco. Apparently the one to go for is the 3.0si (This is not the same as the older 3.0 litre) “The 3.0-litre petrol engine powering SE and Sport models is the lightest volume production six-cylinder engine in the world and ha...

Re: GAP Insurance

Hi, I would like to take out GAP insurance when my new car turns up, but the price VW quoted is quite high and currently won't budge much (they offered it for £390, and reduced it to their absolute best price of £300  ) so does anybody know a reputable GAP insurance provider that won't ad...

Re: What else you considered

Took a quick look around the Renault Laguna Coupe yesterday. I thought the car looked great from the outside especially the rear (reminiscent of an Aston Martin). The interior was another matter. It felt like an old man’s car not a sporty sexy coupe. Absolutely awful automatic gear leaver which look...

Re: How low can you go??

I beat my own record today only achieving 25mpg over 50miles - must be the good weather! Robrob I think it's the same with pretty much any new car. The system for calculating official fuel consumption figures is a farce. Although to be fair I am very please with the Scirocco's fuel consumption in ge...

Re: How low can you go??

The wrost MPG I ever got was in the city with a LOT of traffic and that was 16 mpg overall on my daily routine it does about 30 mpg when I drive normally and about 23 mpg if I want to enjoy it a bit... honestly a weeee bit disappointed, I was hoping for better. Then again they say it'll improve aft...

Re: cloth interior!

Seems everybody posting here has cloth so the opinions are biased. Personally I thought the cloth looked cheap and the mesh in particular felt cheap and rough – it reminded me of tacky cloths from Primark. Yes leather is expensive but it is the best value for money option in my opinion. I can’t unde...

Re: Anyone wish they'd ordered another colour ?

The only other colour I would have had is Sumatra. But. As I suspect like a few others on here when I ordered mine at the end of July last year I took a gamble that all the pictures on the net I had seen were actually Rising Blue and not some Never to be seen again colour as Firespark has turned ou...

Until reading this I thought ACC affected throttle response - it definitely feels that way to me. I don't claim to know the first thing about how the system works.

Nice video but you had a rolling start before you put your foot down and it was dry. I find the 'bang' catches me out occasionally in the wet when pulling away from a round about for example.

Re: What is that loud bang when pulling away from stand still?

Could it be when the wheels spin and the traction control kicks in. I get a very loud bang sometimes and if I'm really pushing it in the wet it can be a few bangs in quick succession. very annoying! That's your wheels bouncing whilst scrabbling for traction, ease the throttle on and it wont happen ...
