Anyone looking for a new Roc R?

Hi All, Not sure what the latest situation is with availability of new cars, but was in Benfield VW Newcastle the other day and they have a new Rising Blue Roc R available. The options i spotted at a quick glance were metallic, DSG, black leather, parking sensors. They may have been more but i didnt...

Finance/PCP Quotes?

Hi, My mrs is looking at buying an ex demo from our local vw dealer and we are looking for advice on cheap finance. There seem to be very few (that i can find) suppliers of PCP/Balloon payments to compare our dealers with. Im waiting for a couple of companies to call back, but in the meantime can an...

Re: Volkswagen Finance PCP Deal

Before jumping into any finance/pcp deals with dealers give yorkshire bank a go. Find the number for their "asset finance" department and get a quote for a personal car loan with balloon payment. They are one of the few banks who do balloon payments and are virtually always cheaper than ca...

Re: Frozen windows

I was getting sick of having this issue every time i tried to get in over the past couple of weeks. Yesterday i bought some stuff from halfords called "3 in 1 silicone lubricant spray". It repels moisture and in theory stops the glass sticking in the seals. I squirted a good dose up into t...

Re: Windows not rolling up

I had the same but unfortunately it was no better when i jumped and and tried to put the window back up with the interior switch. Tried engine on/off, alarm on/off and every combination i cld think of. The window switch moved it up and down no problem apart from the last 2". A very chilly 25 mi...

Re: Scirocco R now on UK VW Website

I have to say i would love one, but at circa 30k with a few toys on its just too near to 1 year old boxster/cayman territory for me. At the 26k base price it looks quite reasonable, but without even leather included looks a bit steep once specced up. Dread to think how much the Golf R will be! :eyep...

Re: Comm number??

Its the reference number given to your build slot by the factory. It is used to track the car all the way through the build/delivery process as chassis/reg numbers aren't generated until later in the process. The dealer could give you it but its of no use to you whatsoever!

Hope this helps.

Re: Using DSG in ice and snow

By setting the suspension to comfort you soften the chassis setup which makes it slightly more forgiving too. Nothing life changing but every little helps when you have big fat tyres which aren't great on snow.

Re: First year time and distance service price...

Just had mine in for first time/distance service. Cost £85 all in and they replaced the recalled the bolts on the rear hatch without me mentioning it. I did ask about the modified wipers but they were unaware of any new bits, apparently a few people have asked about them. All in all very satisfied w...

Re: Girlfriend driving the Scirocco !!

My wife is insured on mine but i've done a good job of convincing her how complicated and hard to use the DSG box is. Amazing how i can convince her it's just an automatic if it means i can have a drink, but it's something akin to rocket science when i want to drive (99.99% of the time)!

Re: What don't you like about your Rocco?

I've got the white plastic cog as well, didn't realise it was from the car as my local dealer didn't have a clue what it could be from. I suggested something from the ventilation system to open vents or flaps somewhere but they reckoned not. Anyone have any inspiration? The only things that irritate...

Re: Don't miss Top Gear this Sunday

Yep i was really looking forward to that one and it was a real let down. Hardly anything about the car just jc and jm in yet another contrived and fairly ridiculous plot. Used to really enjoy the show but is it just me or is it getting more and more stupid (and a bit boring)? I did notice that they ...

Re: Real World MPGs - 2.0tsi and 2.0 tdi

My 2.0tsi (dsg) is much improved since bluefin remap and now using tesco's 99 octane juice. On a decent motorway run im getting an indicated 41 mpg which seems nearer 38 in reality. Drops to an actual of around 36 round town. Although a bit dearer, im convinced the super unleaded has helped a bit as...

Why didn't you just sell the house instead? You can live in your car but you can't race your house! ;)

Wowzers that clay bar is real good sh1t! Got the halfords own brand bar and lube and it worked an absolute treat. Thanks Chaps. What does anyone use to remove the black from exhaust pipes. I use autosol which is good but doesn't get the bottom of the lip on the pipe clean, its a bit more engrained t...

Re: Removing Paint?

Thats great thanks guys, i did use a wax polish on the bonnet after t cutting it. Might give the clay idea a go, never thought of that one. I haven't punched the neighbour (yet), but he's left his cat with another neighbour while on his hols. Can anyone suggest a nice shade of hammerite for the cat?...

Removing Paint?

Hi All, Next door neighbour has decided to paint his gate with black aerosol hammerite (in the wind). The overspray decided to do a lap of his house before settling on my silver roc! The bodywork on the whole car is now as rough as a badgers backside. I've t-cutted the bonnet and it came up great, u...

Re: Bluefin - A few questions

Just installed mine a couple of days ago, very easy to do and feels very much like how vw would have done a pumped up version rather than an aftermarket conversion.

A lot of fun and no less mpg....result!
