Deflated...

Not a post about tyres... After a 3 month wait my new Candy white Scirocco was registered yesterday and I just need to arrange a delivery date in the next few days...mucho excitement....going to look great in the company car park.... Got into work this morning...and there a new '59 Plate car in the ...

Re: Scrappage Scheme

A predictable lack of clarity from official channels.... Clearly the work-around we have discussed before (cancelling the order, releasing the reserved funds back into the governments 'pot' and then re-applying for a fresh allocation) is likely to be possible (provided there is money left in the gov...

Re: Scrappage Scheme

I'll certainly be interested to hear what they have to say Trix. The scheduled delivery date for me is also precariously close to the scrappage deadline. As for 'VW looking after you'....I guess the likelihood of that probably depends upon how much the car you are 'scrapping' is worth....and how muc...

Re: Delivery Delay

Assuming, of course, that there will still be money left in the Government fund in 4 months time....which I would reckon is too close to call at this point. I'd keep an eye on general motoring news sites for updates on this if I were you. Perhaps the dealer can cancel the reserved scrappage allowanc...

Re: Just placed my order today.

Judging by your name I'm surprised you didn't opt for green..... But anyway....based purely on my own recent experience I'd say 12 weeks might be a little optimistic. I ordered on 5th of June. That ended up being build week 35 - which means delivery is likely to be late September. I know 16 weeks is...

Re: What colour...?

I saw a red 'roc for the first time yesterday. Looked great IMO...I really liked the shade (worked well with the rear light cluster). Not as many red cars about these days either so it really stood out. I'm sure you wouldn't be disappointed in the choice. I've seen most of the other colours now (bar...

Re: Build week to 'delivery week'?

I'd assumed 4 months meant 4 calendar months. 16 weeks isn't 4 months....unless we 4 have 4 Februarys.

If it is 16 weeks then I'm in real trouble! :(

Re: Build week to 'delivery week'?

I think the dealer put the order in on the 4th or 5th of June. I believe you are allowed a maximum of 4-months between placing the order and the car being registered - otherwise your allocated government £1000 gets put back in the pot. Whether VW would honour their £1000 commitment is doubtful too I...

Re: Build week to 'delivery week'?

Its really going to be touch-and-go then...

Build week 35 (24th August?)

Five weeks to get delivered ~ 28th Sept?

My 4 months scrappage limit is 5th October.

Build week to 'delivery week'?

Impatiently awaiting the arrival of the Scirocco... Build week 35 (supposedly)...any ideas what 'build week' I should anticipate delivery? What has been the general gap that people have experienced between build week & delivery? I'm still concerned that my 4 month scrappage window is going to be...

Re: Test drive dilemma

For onfo, I dealt with Orangewheels.com & have so far been very pleased with the experience. Put me in contact with the dealer without taking any 'fee' upfront. I assume they get a 'finders fee' from the dealer if you buy. Dealer is some way away (Manchester area) but can deliver the car on Tran...

Re: Too dark in the back for kids??

Thanks for all the replies :) My kids are very young (under 3) - but because they use car seats they actually sit quite high up and can see out the windows. My wife did sit in the back of a GT - but that was in a car showroom and, of course it had the black roof - so she thought it was too 'gloomy' ...

Too dark in the back for kids??

Help and advice needed! I've got a white 1.4 TSi on order atm. Mainly because my wife reckoned with the tinted rear windows it was too dark in the back of the GT for the kids. Having never actually seen a scirocco without the rear window tints - does it look OK? Anyone got any pictures (esp. if in c...

Re: What are you trading in to get one?

I'm trading in my wife's 12 year old BMW Compact (scrappage scheme)...and she is going to (continue to) drive my BMW 320d M-sport. Somehow, I've ended up driving her Compact for the last 2 years - so its going to be quite a step up. Air-con, a working heater, working electric windows......such luxur...

Re: Help needed! Question about current Scirocco lead times

Thanks Kev, I haven't specified either the Xenons or the sunroof. (Though I was sorely tempted by the roof). So hopefully that won't be an issue anyway. I guess its just going to be a nervous wait. I wonder if the dealer can just hold off applying for the Scrappage allowance until a few weeks after ...

Help needed! Question about current Scirocco lead times

Hi guys, I'm in the process of buying a Roc - on the scrappage scheme. I negotiated a £1400 discount from the dealer on top of the £2K scrappage. Giving me a rather nice £3400 reduction that is written on the order form (currently sitting on my desk). Problem is, after looking at some broker sites (...
