Re: Bad Colour choice or not?
I love the Indium Grey, I was originally searching for one in Rising Blue but then came across one in Grey and wondered why I was ever looking at any other colour. I don't have any pictures of mine when dirty as i normally just take pics once i've washed it. If i get it dirty this weekend i will tak...

Re: RNS 310 I phone 6 compatibility issues....
Yea its a bit frustrating that the VW MDI cable does not work.
My advice would be buy the adapter with the 0.2m extention on it, the basic adapter can be a bit short if you try and put the phone under the armrest.

Re: RNS 310 I phone 6 compatibility issues....
I have had no end of problems with my iPhone 5s and my car. I purchased the white collared MDI cable from TPS and it did work for a short term but kept cutting out. I tried MDI and RNS firmware updates but no joy. Spoke to VW and they said it is a know issue and were working on an MDI update. Best s...

Re: Need a Health Check Before 2000 mile trip to Europe
Also, it depends on which countries within Europe you are visiting.
Some have laws on carrying warning triangle, hi-vis vest and spare light bulbs.
Also I believe it is now law in France that you have to carry a breathalyser. Think you can get away with those cheap disposable ones in halfords.

Re: Radio Code
Yea I have no idea why some dealers charge for the code. When I upgraded my RNS510, I decided to sell the RDS510 so needed the code. So called the dealers the car was ordered from as I thought they would have a note of it since first few services was also done by them. Their response was yes we can ...

Re: What RNS 510 will i need to buy???
I called my local VW Dealer and they gave me the code for free. If i can remember correctly all you need is the serial number of the RCD510 and the VIN number of your car. I have also seen some adverts on ebay offering the same service for under £10 if you are unable to get the code from the dealer....

Re: What RNS 510 will i need to buy???
yes i was unsure on the red MFD, i was just saying what i had to do on my white MFD to give some info. I have heard about the drain issue but i have not done any research into this as it does not affect my car. I just googled it again and it reminded me, it was not the NAV i had to pull the fuse for...

Re: What RNS 510 will i need to buy???
I changed RCD510 for RNS510 earlier this year and yes you can just plug and play. But my car is late 2010 so has the white MFD so a bit unsure on the red MFD. Also my steering wheel buttons worked straight off too, but again I have the new flat bottom steering wheel so unsure on the older style whee...

Re: MDI Update Issue
You need to press the MEDIA button, then select MDI. Aux is the 35mm input.
If not i would put some mp3's on the usb drive and try and play them, then you will know if your USB drive is working with the MDI.

Re: MDI Update Issue
I too have had constant issues with the iPhone 5s and the MDI. Apparently there is a new MDI update that VW are working on. So for the moment I just leave my old iPhone 4 in the car for music. With a 2009 car you should be able to go to the 2011 MDI update, you also need to make sure that the file i...

Re: Body shop in Central Scotland?
I am not sure about central Scotland but i have used Specialist Cars in Aberdeen previously and would not recommend to anyone. I know Specialist Cars are in Dunfermline but unsure who is the dealer in Stirling. I took my Scirocco back to Specialist Cars to get a bit on the bootlid fixed under the 12...

Re: Unusual tyre wear after trackday
Looking at the pictures, that is completely normal wear for a track day. Problem is your tyres are not designed for the heat put through them on a track day. You can buy road legal semi slick tyres but not really worth it if you are only on track now and again. I see this tyre wear a lot on race car...

I have tried the search function. There is varying posts that don't actually lay out in simple terms how to solve the problem. And none actually answer my questions directly. The responses are mainly people putting their '2p' in... So if someone does know the answer to my questions I would be massi...

I received the MDI to apple 30-pin cable with the car. Then purchased the apple 30-pin to lightning adapter from apple and had the issue with iPhone 5s. Next I purchased the MDI to lightning cable from TPS and still had the same issue with the iPhone 5s. Then tested same cable with iPhone 5 and work...

Re: iPhone connection
I have had this issue also and still yet to find a definitive answer. I believe the issue is around the firmware of the MDI. You can update the MDI using the following link - http://www.my-gti.com/3148/volkswagen-media-device-interface-mdi-firmware-upgrades" onclick="window.open(this.href)...

Re: VW and 4 wheel alignment
The trouble with the alignment is a garage will set this up on a completely flat patch of tarmac or concrete where the alignment will be spot on. The problem arises when you go out on a public road where they are all cambered, so your steering wheel will always be off centre.
