As absurd as it seems - VW do not provide a radio code with your car when its received and having bought this car used there is nothing I can do... None the less i phoned up VW to get the code as I'm upgrading to the RNS and not sure what i will do with my RCD. Phoned up a week ago and have it booked in for lunch time today and it was informed it was free of charge - happy days!
Received my reminder call yesterday and was reminded of the fee of £20+ i would be charged as VW had to be emailed directly and they charge £20 a time for...
Anyone else think this is an absolute p**s take?!

Re: Radio Code
Yea I have no idea why some dealers charge for the code.
When I upgraded my RNS510, I decided to sell the RDS510 so needed the code. So called the dealers the car was ordered from as I thought they would have a note of it since first few services was also done by them. Their response was yes we can give you the code but they would need to book the car in and charge for the code.
So I called my local dealers and all they needed was the VIN number of the car and the serial number of the RDS510, then after 5 minutes on hold I got the code over the phone for free.
I would try and call other dealers to see if they can give you the code over the phone, saves you £20 and the hassle of driving it down to the dealers.

Re: Radio Code
I just kept my RCD tbh - too much hassle with codes. Mind you, I could afford to keep it, some cant.
