Re: Emission Control / Engine Management Lamp 2.0tsi

Well the mechanic thought it was just a random error code anyway so I'm not too worried, he mentioned seeing similar things quite a few times in the past linked to other switches and slightly flaky electrics. My stereo also pops when I press the brake pedal half the time (sometimes if braking hard s...

Re: Emission Control / Engine Management Lamp 2.0tsi

It is indeed a manifold problem - the mechanic has turned the light off for now, will see if it stays off! The car runs fine so I just need it to last until the weekend when I pick up my new car really... Sneaky I know but it's a main dealer so they're well equipped to deal with any issues if indeed...

Re: Emission Control / Engine Management Lamp 2.0tsi

Thanks for the info! I've found a VW specialist round the corner from where I work and he's going to check the code tomorrow, fingers crossed!

Emission Control / Engine Management Lamp 2.0tsi

Hi guys, I've just had this yellow light come on today on my 2.0tsi GT Scirocco, left the car for an hour or so and it came on again when I went back to it. Any ideas what it may be? All running fine and had a VW Service one month ago and MOT last week (which always worries me as faults always seem ...

Sales section?

Hi guys,

Just wondering if there is a place for people to buy/sell cars here? I can't see one.

I understand completely if it's not wanted and the usual avenues are recommended instead! :)

Re: New Scirocco - Geneva Motorshow

I can't believe they still haven't changed those god-awful plastic-insert creaky door handles. They are so cheap feeling and sounding.

Re: Drowned my Scirocco, any lasting damage?

Thanks for the advice guys! I've been working away in Vegas for the last week so only just back today - the car is driving fine but towards the end of my trip back from Gatwick (120 miles or so) the Exhaust System light came on, I'm not sure what parts that covers which could be at fault except mayb...

Drowned my Scirocco, any lasting damage?

Hi guys, Well, during an eventful Christmas Eve I managed to get my Scirocco (2.0t petrol) stuck in flood water, about halfway up the exhaust! One of those times, it looked bad (the flood), I tried to turn around but not knowing the area and the Sat Nav not giving me an alternate route I was kinda s...

RCD 510 not reading SD Cards...

Hi guys, Just wondering if anyone knows a reason why my RCD 510 can't read SD Cards, just says "Error" when I put them in. I've tried formatting in Fat32 etc and gone from an SD HC 4gig card to a standard blue cheapy one and nothing works. I've simply dragged a few MP3's onto it to test, d...

AM Radio not working on RCD 510.

Anyone have any ideas what might cause the AM radio to get no signal at all on an RCD 510? I mentioned it in the last service but they said no faults showed so they'd have to pull the car apart to check and didn't think I'd want that. (Was obviously a thorough check as the radio was still on Radio 2...

Re: Fuel efficient......

Well after a couple of months of having my 2.0 GT Tsi I'm averaging 32mpg with the performance unleaded. This is with a 20 minute daily commute which is half stop/start traffic lights in town and half national speed limit dual-carriageway. About right I guess as my old Civic 1.8 got about 38mpg unde...

Re: Making the roc a bit more pointy?

I think part of the problem is relatively "slow" steering on the Roc - ie more turns lock to lock than some other cars. I've noticed I have to turn about quarter of a turn further than my old Civic or Alfa's for the same result, you can sharpen up response but I don't think it's going to g...

Re: Service - Jeez!

It's a good point about buckled wheels and buying second-hand. I think there must be some issue with the Interlagos alloys as I've never had a buckled wheel before and one of the things I'd read about the Scirocco (from the Honestjohn site I think) was that the alloys could break on sharp knocks lik...

Yeah, 18's on mine (Interlagos), I think when hols are out of the way I'll give Ebay a look at that price! I'll ask about the long-life plan when I go in and see what they say, cheers!

Re: Service - Jeez!

Yeah cheers for that, I agree - I did look at the tyres yesterday and while they're quite cracked at the edges due to age the tread looked fine. I've used Camskill before and had a look a few weeks back, was thinking about the Eagle F1 Assymetric 2's at £137 or so. :) I loved how VW seemed to just t...

Service - Jeez!

So just had my service done at 10,500 miles (on an '08 plate!) and it's £289 for the service + £50 or so for brake fluid and VW kindly tell me one of the rear wheels has a slight buckle, a replacement being a mere £429, also that it needs two new rear tyres at just £220 per piece (Pirelli P-Zero's n...

Re: How long to run in a 2.0tsi?

Yup, in very good nick! Just a few weird yellow spots in the paint, a duff rear tweeter and a lack of Bluetooth (D'oh! didn't realise many new cars came without, even my Panda 5 years ago had it as standard!!) but aside from that has the heated leather, DSG and RCD 510 stereo which are nice premium ...
