Hi (again) from noob owner with many questions as ever...
My 2008 2.0tsi has 10k on the clock so has no doubt spent much of it's life having short trips around Chiswick (where it was first bought) and I've got it booked in for its 5th Service(!) which is now due and which I didn't realise when I bought it a couple of weeks back, it's a big service too dammit as the last was minor.
My question is do experienced owners think this engine is now properly run in or does it need some more regular driving and miles on the clock? (which it will now get!) Performance seems fine and MPG is just a bit lower than expected at approx 30mpg with sensible-ish driving, the odd spurt for overtaking notwithstanding
It's fine. Just go and drive it.
Running in is largely a thing of the past now. A few hundred miles at the start maybe but after that it's fine.
30mpg is about right. I only get north of that on the motorway. A steady 70mph run will see me get up to 36-38mpg after a while but apart from that 26-32 will be your normal value.

Thanks Kev, I probably should have clarified that I wasn't concerned about running-in as such, but more along the lines of "has the engine fully loosened-up" in terms of performance. I know many mini owners claim they get more power as the miles add up (within reason) and that the old Golf GTI mkII 16v was supposed to be better with 100k+ on it! The economy does sound about the same as yours and tallies with the motorway trip back from the purchase. Ta!

Yup, in very good nick! Just a few weird yellow spots in the paint, a duff rear tweeter and a lack of Bluetooth (D'oh! didn't realise many new cars came without, even my Panda 5 years ago had it as standard!!) but aside from that has the heated leather, DSG and RCD 510 stereo which are nice premium touches. Overall very happy with the car
