Re: 50 seconds of rattle on startup
I can't remember if the 2.0 TSI uses a Secondary Air Injection (SAI) system or just runs a specific map to heat the cats up on cold start up for a brief period but if it has a SAI pump, it could be that rattling as that would only be running during the higher idle speed fime period. Hopefully somebo...

Re: 50 seconds of rattle on startup
In theory, the timing chain is supposed to last the lifetime of the engine but the reality is that they can stretch. Also, on older EA888 engines, which yours is, there were issues with tensioners and the design has been revised many times. If you do a search on this forum you'll find out more detai...

Re: 50 seconds of rattle on startup
It's normal for the idle to increase to around 1200rpm for a short period after a cold start up. With regards to the rattle, does it re-appear if you increase the revs to 1200rpm using the throttle? If so check things like the bonnet stay, engine cover or heat shield as they are common causes of rat...

Re: Oil Sensor Workshop, just after full service?
I would guess it's the oil level sensor located in the sump. If you do an OBD scan it should confirm or point you in the correct direction.

Re: Enabling mirror tilt
Well, you're doing everything right and the fact you get the option to tick in the MFD implies that the coding is correct. Sorry, can't be of any further help.

Re: Enabling mirror tilt
Just checking that you have the mirror adjust control knob set to "L" (passenger mirror) when you select reverse. Also when in this configuration have you tried adjusting the mirror position to set the tilt position just incase the default and the tilt position are both the same?

Re: My Scirocco has become weak in power
First thing to do is to scan using VCDS or similar to see what fault codes, if any, are stored.

Re: Wanting to swap the OEM cloth seats to black Leather Seats
The seats out of the Golf R MK6.5 should fit your Scirocco R mechanically no problem, however VW has a habit of changing connectors therefore the electrical connectors may not match. Also the leather seats will be heated and if your Scirocco R doesn't currectly have heated seats, there will be some ...

Re: ESP error and car fails to start
In my experience the ABS / ESP control module is the first to give an error when the voltage dips.
With regards to not starting, crank sensor (engine speed sensor) is a possibility but its a stab in dark until you get the codes read.

Re: ESP error and car fails to start
I would imagine the ESP error is a consequence of low voltage due to the operation of the starter motor and not directly related to what's preventing the car starting.

Re: Bluetooth issues with my 2011 sirocco
On a 2011 Scirocco, Bluetooth was a cost option therefore I presume your car doesn't have the optional Bluetooth module that is normally located under the driver's seat. If you have the module you also have a phone menu within the MFD in the cluster. When new the car came with 2 MDI cables, one to c...

Re: Head lights
If you have halogen headlights on a pre-facelift model, they come on as soon as you switch on the ignition as they are acting as Daylight Running Lights (DRLs) . The "auto" setting on the switch is basically redundant. You can code the DRL function out and have the headlights operating as ...

A Genuine VW Activated Carbon Charcoal Cabin Filter is only ~ £10 to £15 which you fit yourself easily. Although it's irrelevant as this thread is 4 years old, the charcoal canister used to absorb petrol fumes and is located under the bonnet, is a totally different part to the Charcoal Cabin filter.

Apologies it's not something I've come across, although my MK5 was an R32. Remember the Scirocco uses an early EA888 variant whereas the MK5 GTI uses the EA113. To be honest this forum is very quiet. ETA. OK, I've just had a look on the MK5 forum and I see what you are referring to now. I honestly d...

Re: Pre cat delete
Are you referring to the Secondary Air Injection (SAI) pump that under certain conditions pumps air into the exhaust for a short period of time on start up to get the catalyst up to optimal temperature quicker and reduce emissions?

Re: Central electric issue
This may sound odd but try disconnecting the battery for a few mins and reconnecting it. That's been known to work instances like this. By doing so it resets the module. Also be aware when you reconnect the battery a few warning lights will remain on until you drive the car a short distance to allow...
