Re: Roof Rack
Sorry for the thread hijack. Where are you based? I have just sold my Scirocco and have the OEM VW bars in my garage. Open to sell at a sensible price (not giving them away as I'll chop them up for a future van project if I keep them). DM me if you are interested. They live in Edinburgh. I'll be in ...

Re: Miles from a set of tyres?
Thanks all - seems our tyre wear is fairly standard. Will see if I can eek a few more months out of the rears before it gets changed. Your tyre swapping sounds sensible Mark, but a bit late for us on this set. I'm impressed with your tyre wear PAJ - we've gone through 3 sets of fronts in 48,000 now....

Miles from a set of tyres?
Our Rocco is now 3.5 years old and needing a new set of front tyres (which I am rather glad of as the current fronts have been shocking - I let our tyre fitter talk me in to trying something I wouldn't otherwise have). We have done 47,000 mixed miles (I give it the beans occasionally and my wife doe...

Re: Seat tilt mechanism fault - replacement parts?
robinalex - that sounds like the bit which came off mine. It goes on the inside rail behind the seat - a small pin goes through the hole to hold it in place I think. There should be a spring around somewhere too.

Interesting, thanks. Maybe I'll take it to the dealer after all then.

Seat tilt mechanism fault - replacement parts?
The passenger seat on our 3 year old Rocco (just out of warranty of course) has started playing up. It will still slide forward and back fine, and fold fine too, but when folded forward to allow access to the rear seat, it will only fold back to the normal position when slid all the way to the rear....

Re: Roof bars problem
If you mean the clips on the side which cover the fixing bolt, they do seem a bit flimsy. I snapped the hinge on one very early on, and tape that side down with black insulating tape when I have the bars fitted (once or twice a month) to ensure it doesn't pop open while driving. I lost the other in ...

Rattle from passenger side at low revs?
For a few months I've had a rattle from the front passenger side area (possibly from around the glovebox area / left side of the bonnet). I've shuffled everything around in the glovebox a bit, but to no avail. It occurs at lowish revs (I notice it primarily in 2nd, but confirmed earlier it is also n...

Re: Different GAP Insurance
I've been think about this a bit too. Got a 'Rocco a month or so on VW Solutions. They tried to sell me GAP insurance, but it seems much cheaper online. £95 from car2cover.co.uk seems a good deal for 3 years cover, maximum payout £10,000. I'm still swithering about it as I tend to avoid unnecessary ...

Sorry, just noticed your post. Sure, post up some info and I'll have a gander at my bars which are downstairs.

What rear carpet mats?
I got the front mats thrown in by my dealer, but not rear mats. Any suggestions for plain black rear mats? I don't need anything fancy, just something that fits reasonably well.
Thanks

Re: MY2011 changes
140 TDI is all silver, 170 TDI has a red I (I believe).
In my mind the new colouring for the TSI badges makes sense. There is no need for the 2.0 to have red lettering as there is only one 2.0 TSI. The 1.4s only need the red lettering to differentiate them.

Re: Public Parking
Definitely don't park next to a Scirocco. Some Scirocco driver will open his massive door onto the side of your car. ![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/wink.gif)

Re: Will Thule 591 Proride Bike Carriers fit on VW Roof Bars
I have the VW roof bars and the carriers attach using a bolt with a square plate on the bottom which slides into the bars, so you mount the bike carriers by sliding them into the bars.
Does that sound like the Thule carriers?

Re: iphone not working
My 3G with iOS4 is still working fine after the update. The iPhone occasionally displays "Device not connected" when connected through a dock etc, but still works. This is normally just because one of the pins hasn't connected fully, so the iPhone doesn't recognise what the connection is. ...

Re: Sunroof with a roof rack?
The picture of the Scirocco in the VW literature with the roof bars is fitted over the pano roof. I've just got some bars for my non-pano roof Scirocco, but not fitted them yet. Edit:- Had a look around, and you can see the picture here... http://www.volkswagen-zubehoer.de/fileadmin/pdf/prospekte/L4...

Re: Electronic Parking Brake
Great, thanks Scott. I wondered if that was the case, but haven't tested it yet as I have always had someone behind me when stopped at lights!
I think I have the other MY2011 additions (tyre pressure sensor is in the glovebox) so presumably it is a MY2011 model.
Cheers

Re: Electronic Parking Brake
I picked up my new GT 2.0 TDI (manual, not DSG) yesterday, which was supposed to be built Week 24 and hence be the 2011 spec. What is the easy way to confirm this? Where should the hill hold assist button be? My car arrived a bit earlier than expected so I think it must have been built before week 2...
