Electronic Parking Brake
Hi all, just ordered my new Scirocco today, the long wait now begins! On my test drive I was a bit put off by the position of the handbrake and thought I would go for the electronic parking brake option. I have used this before in the new Audis and found it to be excellent.
Does anyone know how the scirocco central console looks with this option? Is the space where the cable handbrake was just a gaping void or do they use it for storage etc?
Any help would be most appreciated!

Re: Electronic Parking Brake
Yeah its down as 'hill hold control' on the configurator, but I have been reliably informed it is an electronic parking brake as well.

Re: Electronic Parking Brake
Auto hold is standard on the DSG and comes with the standard handbrake. It's an £80 option for the manual so wouldn't have thought that would get you an electronic parking brake. I have read somewhere that it just delay's the brake release for a few seconds or until you accelerate.

Re: Electronic Parking Brake
The sales guy described it as the same as in the new audi a4/a3 which look like the tiguan pic above. Also in a lot of the online finance quoting websites it is described as 'electronic parking brake with hill hold assist'
In any case, I'll let you know what turns up!

Re: Electronic Parking Brake
i think the sales guys bullshitted you there mate.
the hill hold button goes next to the ESP (and ACC and flat tyre indicator) button(s).
it isn't an electronic handbrake, it just stops you rolling backwards.
i know this because passats have an electronic handbrake AND the hill hold button.
tbh hill hold works ok but you have to keep remebering to turn it off when tryint to monuvre using the roads gradient to roll gently...

Re: Electronic Parking Brake
I picked up my new GT 2.0 TDI (manual, not DSG) yesterday, which was supposed to be built Week 24 and hence be the 2011 spec. What is the easy way to confirm this?
Where should the hill hold assist button be? My car arrived a bit earlier than expected so I think it must have been built before week 24, so I'm wondering if it is in fact MY2011. I can't see the Hill Hold Button beside the ACC.

Re: Electronic Parking Brake
There is no hill hold button anymore its automatic. i asked the dealer the very question when i got into the car.
the way to test if you have it is stop on a hill with the footbrake on, leave the footbrake go and if the car holds itself for 2 seconds you have it.
if it rolls back before 2 seconds you dont have it.
hope this helps.

Re: Electronic Parking Brake
Great, thanks Scott. I wondered if that was the case, but haven't tested it yet as I have always had someone behind me when stopped at lights!
I think I have the other MY2011 additions (tyre pressure sensor is in the glovebox) so presumably it is a MY2011 model.
Cheers
