Re: Macbook Pro's...Air's...
My Win7 takes max 20 seconds from switch on to get into Windows. If you Optimise Win7, you can fly with it. Whilst you're buying the Mac, you can look for a better spec laptop and even have cash left over to buy an SSD (if laptop has 2 HDD spaces, you can use it as you're 1st drive and the default ...

Re: Macbook Pro's...Air's...
I've recently bought a 13" air with 256SSD in the States and can recommend it 100%. I used to have the old "white" Macbook but the air has a higher res screen, better graphics and amazing battery life.

Re: Winter Problems / Faults, Anyone else?
My car sometimes tells me it needs a service in 300 miles (which it doesn't). It doesn't come up on the MFD every time I start up, just when its been left in the cold for a long time. It's booked in to be looked at after xmas

Climate control switching itself off Auto
Hi, For the past few days, when I've got my car out of the garage, I've noticed that the climate control was set to manual rather than auto, which is a bit weird as I leave it on auto all the time and don't mess about with it. Today, I switched it back onto auto when I got in, and noticed that after...

The new Lotuses are tasty, specially the Elan. Just a pity it's priced at 911 levels!

Re: help oh wise forum - re: dealers being idiots
I dunno how sales targets work with VW, but my experience with BMW & Porsche is that they can "book" a car when full payment has been made. Date of registration doesn't come into it. So maybe as long as you settle the balance before the end of Aug, then that could be fine and they can ...

Re: MDI Firmware Upgrade
The new firmware has caused a very annoying problem with my iPod. When I switch off the car, the MDI continues to send commands to my iPod, so it doesn't turn off. Which means its battery runs out overnight! Having to resort to unplugging the iPod from the MDI every evening!!

Re: MDI Firmware Upgrade
Many thanks for this. After a little bit of testing (using a 60GB iPod classic too), my observations are: 1. The stutter when manually switching between tracks has gone, but... 2. The stutter when the head unit moves on from the end of one track to the start of the next is still there 3. When I view...

Re: 1st service question...
What kind of mileage are people getting before a first service on long life? My old GTi was at about 14k, but my Scirocco is now up to 15k and the service indicator hasn't flashed up yet.

Re: RCD510 not dimming
I've noticed recently that my RDC510 is really dim first thing of the morning (when on the brightest setting). It must be the cold weather, as it takes about 15 mins for it to warm up and get to the correct brightness

Variable bit rate MP3's on RCD510
Hi all, I've just loaded some VBR MP3's on to my ipod and tried to play them back in my car. They play fine to begin with, but suddenly stop about a minute before they are meant to. I've listened to them on my ipod and they're fine, so it seems to be a problem with how the RCD510 is handling them (I...

Re: Interior/Leather Care?
The best stuff that I've ever come across for leather is a product called Liquid Leather by Gliptone. You can order it online. It smells just like leather and leaves your interior smelling as if your seats are brand new. It really is the dogs! Agree, Gliptone conditioner is excellent stuff. Used to...

Re: Anything you ex GTI owners actually miss
The only thing I miss is the grab handles in the back which I used to use to hang my clothes up. There is a coat hook behind the passenger seat in the Scirocco but it's pretty small. Apart from that minor thing, there is nothing at all I miss.

Thanks all, yes it does work for me. I didn't realise that you needed to set the mirror down position initially
