help oh wise forum - re: dealers being idiots
Hi Guys,
When i ordered my car in june i was told expect delivery early sept and i thought great new 60 reg plate.
just rang them to get an upday and theyre saying the 25-29 aug and i said well can i pick it up on the 1st of sept for the new reg and they said no due to having to release the car that month!?
surely theyre not going to stick by that? when they initially said sept. Plus im away for 26-30 so would miss out on the 7day insurance and not have much time to sort out my own?
please advise, i said to them im not having it so they salesman is going to speak to the manager.
Any ideas please guys? thanks all!

That complete crap. I expect its just they are trying to hit there targets for August which I reckon is a bad month for dealers as people wait for the new Reg. Its your car so do what you want with it. Take no crap from the dealer if things get out of hand call VW head office and complain bitterly.
The 7 day insurance you should not miss out on as you arrange for the day you collect it.

a bit late now but why didn't you just tell them you are away at the end of Aug so would be unable to collect until 1st september

Wouldn't stop them registering it before Sept though, would it ???

think of the backlash they would get if they did that, I really don't think they would be so stupid.

we i said im away till the 30th of aug (which is actually true!) and hes gone away to speak to the manager, my sales guy is such an amateur, doesnt have a clue!
so the general consensus is that theyre just trying to bully me to get their aug sales figures up and i should have none of it? thanks all

We are hopefully picking our car up on Friday, and our dealer offered to hold it from then till Sept if we wanted a 60 plate! So forcing you to take it seems a bit of a joke.

Well i hope im not in the same situation because they have txt me today telling me it will be there in 3 to 4 weeks and if they register the car before the new plate comes out then im going to tell them to stuff it and get my £500 deposit back.
As far as im concerned they have a lot more to loose than me, even if i didnt get my £500 back they would loose £25,000 in a sale.
Stand by your guns mate

Seriously if you have a problem with a dealer just call head office up. Not the customer service number proper head office get off directory enquiries if necessary. Tell someone high up your problems and try and get it sorted.

I dunno how sales targets work with VW, but my experience with BMW & Porsche is that they can "book" a car when full payment has been made. Date of registration doesn't come into it. So maybe as long as you settle the balance before the end of Aug, then that could be fine and they can register it 1st Sep.
Even if this isn't the case, i'd tell them to do one if they tried to register the car before 1st Sep!

Re: help oh wise forum - re: dealers being idiots
They can't register a customer car until you've paid. So don't pay them till you come back from hols. Once paid it's your car and you can choose when to register it. Which dealer is it?

Surely VW must have a customer complaint procedure, I'm sure you can sort this out, you just need to talk to the right people.
