Re: Where is the tailgate-open switch?
After some investigation - it's in the latch. As it closes it clicks twice, the second click is the detect. in my case the dent in the rear meant the latch only went as far as the first click, which meant as well as the MFD continually showing the boot-open indication, also disabled the rear washer ...

Where is the tailgate-open switch?
2012 model Got rear-ended yesterday and although the tail still opens & closes, the switch is showing tail-open all the time on the MFD.
Does anyone know where the switch is located so I can bypass/fix it until it goes to the body shop?

So....
all add-ons to be authorised and taxed by VW
GPS locks out the engine if you go near a different make's dealership
No service information or tools available to third parties
All fluids come in bottles with RFID tags so you can only use theirs
No thanks.

Re: Media-in stopped working
I've had this happen once on my USB hard disk - file under "one of those things.."
The MDI stuff is actually a complete media player in the centre console, not just a cable to the head unit, so chances are it occasionally gets itself in a knot and isn't detected by the main unit.

Comments like that are hardly helpful without some justification.whiteDevil_170 wrote:I wouldn't touch it.

Re: RCD 510 upgrade or add ons?
A cheaper option may be an RNS315 - you may find someone with one after an upgrade to a 510. The main difference AFAICS is it doesn't have DVD playback or video for reversing camera. (not sure whether it has Europe maps) Although it doesn't have an intrernal hard disk, It supports up to 32GB of musi...

Re: Spare Bulb Kit
I would assume "spare bulbs" would be interpreted as any bulb that is intended to be user-replaceable, so not xenons, embedded LEDs etc. Of course we are talking about the French here so common sense may not apply if they have it in for you

Re: RNS315 - large media on USB
I bought a Touro 500gb USB3 drive, which seems to work OK - copied about 80gb in 2000 folders so far. It's quite a snug fit in the console - you have to put it connector-down due to the slight taper of the console - I'll probably re-case it in something a bit more shockproof but can't really complai...

Re: RNS315 - large media on USB
Tried a few more permutations. Hitachi 40G drive, works with 2 different USB adaptors, so looks like the adaptor isn't the issue Samsung 150G and Toshiba 16G drives - neither work. Have tried formatting the Samsung with various cluster sizes with no difference. Does anyone have any specific models o...

Re: RNS315 - large media on USB
I use a 1 TB portable hard drive has to be FAT 32 though What USB interface do you use (or is it a drive with internal USB?) I just tried a 150G Samsung ATA drive in an Ebay special USB enclosure http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400392619536?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649" onc...

Erwin - problem with specific vehicle info
I wanted to get hold of some service manuals as I always like to know how things work.... Set up an Erwin account, and could download the general Scirocco 2008+ info, under "individual vehicle information" but my understanding is that you can get more up-to-date and specific info via "...

RNS315 - large media on USB
Having had a Dension MP3 player with 100gb HD in my previous car, I'm looking at using something like a USB SSD or big-ass USB stick to get a similar capacity with the RNS315. The manual mentions some folder and file count limits for SD cards and a 32G partition but doesn't mention anything about an...

Best protection for lazy owner...
Just picked up a nearly-new GT in metallic blue. As I'm typically too lazy and/or busy to do more than run a car through a car-wash now and then, I was wondering if anyone had recommendations on what would be a fairly long-lasting wax product to use now while it's still fairly new as protection agai...

BlueMotion - is it worth it?
My Hyundai Coupe getting rear-ended yesterday hastened my search for something to replace it. Hyundai seem to have lost the plot with their new Coupe thing ,and after a lot of searching it seems like the Scirocco is the only decent current coupe that doesn't attract boy-racer insurance or have other...
