Spare Bulb Kit

Post by MartyRocco »

Good morning all,

In just a months time I'm taking my Scirocco down to the south of France and back up again through the Alps, cant wait! :rally:

I've seen several mentions of spare bulbs in other posts, but could someone point me towards an appropriate bulb kit? I have one for a 2008 Audi A3 (which includes an H7) but im not sure about the rest?

TIA

There just tends to be generic kit based around the headlight bulb as one specific to the Scirocco.

Ah, thanks for that. So looking at the bulb specs I think I'm ok with the kit I already have.
I'm trying to save money where I can, I'm finding the costs of this motoring jaunt rapidly mounting up!

I went to le mans this year so did a fair amount of reading around to get some although I needed UK cover too & cover for me on any car to cover the caterham as well.
I went with StartRescue (cashback via quidco) who seem to get reasonable reviews & very decent price, the other ones that got good reviews were Greenflag & also ADAC who are basically the German AA, they will cover any vehicle you are in & your wife/husband & most comments on PH recommended getting it as supplement to UK cover although could cover both http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=854975" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

So in those countries where you have to carry a set of spare bulbs .... how do you go on with xenons which are a garage fit only?

I would assume "spare bulbs" would be interpreted as any bulb that is intended to be user-replaceable, so not xenons, embedded LEDs etc. Of course we are talking about the French here so common sense may not apply if they have it in for you :D .

i asked about replacement xenon bulbs and they were about £120 from VW each, i worked on the pretence if the xenons had failed it was likely i'd stuffed the front end a set of bulbs would be the last thing on my mind
