Right guys and gals, it's problem time.
Got in to my car after work, turned on the engine and plugged my iPhone 4 in the MDI and got nothing. The 'Media-in' selection disappeared from the touchscreen too, only offering a greyed out 'Aux' instead. Phone was still showing as charging so the cable seems fine. Was working fine this morning.
Tried turning the stereo off an the engine off but no success on turning back on and can't see anything in the settings to sort this. Any suggestions before I do a factory reset on the stereo?

I've had this happen once on my USB hard disk - file under "one of those things.."
The MDI stuff is actually a complete media player in the centre console, not just a cable to the head unit, so chances are it occasionally gets itself in a knot and isn't detected by the main unit.

There is software in the MDI which you can upgrade if it is not the latest version. The link was on the my-GTI forum. Link http://www.my-gti.com/3148/volkswagen-m ... e-upgrades" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Cheers. Had already updated it to the latest software a while back. Did solve the annoying gap between song issue I had. Media in has worked fine since so think it was just having a off day.salsajoe wrote:There is software in the MDI which you can upgrade if it is not the latest version. Re: Media-in stopped working
Just out of interest, is there any way to see which version of the software it is running (apologies if it's obvious, haven't physically received the car yet. Stuck in transit somewhere
). Would hope a new build would be up to date but you never know...
