Re: What oil are you'all using?
You should not be able to notice any difference on the oil spec change unless in some very extreme weather conditions (super hot or super cold). What I have noticed though is considerable improvement in MPG when I shifted away from VW Oil (it is essentially Castrol). Poured Shell Hellix Ultra - 5 mp...

Re: Squeaky Scirocco :-(
Hey, I am not sure if it is the same but my car also squeaks a bit at speed bumps - the bigger the susp travel, the more it squeaks. I can also sometimes hear it on old, poorly cobbled streets when going slow. Mine is weather dependent - if it's wet and cold, it is barely audible, if it's dry and wa...

Re: Change from A4 to Scirocco....thoughts?
A bit of a late reply but it might still be useful. I have both an '09 Scirocco and an '09 A4 and although they share quite a lot, they feel different. The A4 is quieter, has a smoother ride, has a bigger boot and will seat four in greater comfort. Its steering is pretty much lifeless and there is l...

Re: TPMS Alerts
The car feels as normal, or in other words fantastic. Lately, a strange little knocking has developed in the front but only in very specific cases and road conditions. It is nothing major since everyone I give a ride to says I am imagining but...it is another reason I think my susp is going. The car...

TPMS Alerts
Hi, there. Back in September, driving on a perfectly straight road I got a message for a flat tire. Oddly enough, after inspection (initial and in the closest petrol station) I found no change in pressure in any of the wheels. I did a reset of the TPM System and forgot about it. In December when I p...

Re: What is the OEM battery
Recently changed my battery from a 61ah to 74ah (S5 007) but as stated above the foam surround is now too small. Do you think this would fit?

Re: Wrong battery from factory?
Thanks for the replies. Yes, I guess if it lasted for 5 years, there was nothing wrong with it. Ended up buying a 74ah Bosch S5 007 for its firepower in the cold.

Wrong battery from factory?
My battery died two times this week which is more or less normal for a 5-year-old everyday-use car. Lately I have been driving on very short distances so I figured I had it coming. Started looking for a new one and was a bit surprised when a number of websites and stores quoted batteries much larger...

Re: Why do you need wide tires?
Honestly, after 2 months of driving with the Bridgestones I find them perfectly fine. I have even started driving on Normal from time to time.
I guess it is all about gettting used to. It is when you switch tires when you realize how good or bad was the tire you got used to.

Re: Why do you need wide tires?
Dunlop Noise parameters are lower than most tire manufacturers by some margin. Are their tires that quiet really? Has somebody compared some of the Dunlops against GY Eagles A2? What causes the misalignment of wheels - rough roads, potholes, poor tire changes, vehicle amortization? I haven't observe...

Re: Why do you need wide tires?
Can't imagine how the Scirocco rides on 19s! The swap from 16" to 17" is quite a difference and moving to bigger wheels has to escalate the problem even more. DOT on my Bridgestones is 2009 so they are as old as the car. Probably should do wheel alignment just in case although with no unev...

Why do you need wide tires?
It's almost a rhetorical question! I've just put my original summer tires on (Bridgestone Potenza RE050A 235/45/17) and I am shocked! Noise and comfort over the winter ones (Dunlop Wintersport 3D 205/55/16) is so low I can hardly believe I have driven the car with them for 5 years now. I drove the w...
Re: ESP Fault
Can you get hold of VCDS (VAGCOM) to check for the Brake Controller 03? Either a screen shot of the Controller's "Open Controllers" screen or a Controller 03 section from the Autoscan, if you can post that up. Plus, still the 2009 Scirocco you bought? C. I would try find VCDS and take the...
Re: ESP Fault
I have been getting these ESP Fault messages recently, once in about a month. I start the car, the message is displayed on the MFD and in 3 sec it is gone. 'Tested' the ESP last week and it seems to work fine. Has anyone got more info on this of lately?

Re: Happy New year from VW, with 3.1% price rise
And it's not only VW that's cheaper in the UK compared to continental Europe. Playing with Audi, BMW, Mercedes configurators clearly showed cars were much cheaper in UK. Car companies may have realized that people can export vehicles within the EU countries with ease (like I did) and may be making p...

Re: heater warm up time
Really sorry if Im repeating as I couldn't go through the whole topic but I have found out the interior heats up faster if I put the heater at 17-18 that if I keep it at 22. Don't know if it is because of the Aux heater my car is supposed to have or the temp setting but after 5 min of gentle driving...

Re: Bong/Gong!!
Mine does it too from time to time. In my case, I believe it is a seat belt warning sound 'left over' from parking the car. Sometimes I stop further away from my garage door to open it, I don't put seat belt for the 20m of driving, gain enough speed to turn on the warning sign and park like that. Ev...

Re: Need a new tyre
No need to worry about age cause the tires are brand new but it would be good to match the model of the other tire on the axel. Being different you would experience different grip, noise and tire wear, which in critical situations like the one you had would be very dangerous. You were lucky (or just...

Re: Centre Console Buttons
The third button on the picture above is for engaging/disengaging the Park Assist, available on the Tiguan and Passat (and the Golf, maybe). It uses sensors and turns the steering wheel to park you in a slot with the driver only needing to brake in case sth goes wrong. I cannot believe it works well...

Re: Torque settings, wheel bolts.
Hm, interesting! My wheel bolts actually tighten up with time. When I changed my winter tires I barely managed to unscrew the bolts although I have never tighten them beyond hand force. I actually thought that new cars have these self-tightening bolts as a safety feature but this topic disproves my ...
