1.4 tsi could be axed
http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/254741/ Wonder if there's any truth in the above rumour. Having had the engine for over 18 months, I admire the technology and enjoy the power delivery but it's not exactly been reliable for me.........new cylinder head gasket, 2 software updates, i...

VW GTI Sledge
Don't suppose anyone knows if it is still possible to get a VW GTI sledge?! It is something they used to sell for the past few years but can't see it in the current merchandise brochure. Want to make the most of this fun weather!

Re: Occasional Loss of Power
Since July my car has been in 5 times for a total of over 6 weeks+ for a misfire and loss of power! I'm so sick of it that i have traded it in but my new car doesnt arrive for 5 weeks yet. You aren't the only one certainly........misfires seem a bit too common on this engine. I have had 2 software u...

Re: 1.4 tsi 160 missfire
Finally got my car back after 2 and a half weeks...... Drives fine now although I have lost confidence in the car somewhat. Have just started to have the same problem. This will be the 3rd time my car is back at VW Chiswick in the 11 month life of my car. They tell me it will be £10/day to insure m...

Re: 1.4 tsi 160 missfire
Finally got my car back after 2 and a half weeks. Just as well as the Sharan courtesy car was starting to crack me up! The car has a new cylinder head gasket fitted and that has fixed the problem, although 2.5 weeks is a bit excessive for a head gasket. Think they really struggled to diagnose it and...

Re: 1.4 tsi 160 missfire
The latest update is they are still working on it and are also on to VW technical support. Looks like i have them scratching their heads! Fingers crossed it gets sorted soon.

Re: 1.4 tsi 160 missfire
Thanks for the information. My car was delivered in April 2009 so cannot have injectors from the batch you highlight and it has been run on Shell V-power since day one.
Going to phone the garage when they open. I'll let you know how I get on.
Cheers

Re: 1.4 tsi 160 missfire
Anyone had any further issues or a solution to this yet? My car has now had a software update which had no effect, it went back in about a week ago and this time a fault code had been logged - misfire cylinders 1 & 2. They replaced the coil pack and it was ok for a day or two before the fault re...

Re: Engine Problem
I've got exactly the same problem right now. There's a topic in the tech area titled 1.4 misfire, probably on page 2 by now. Would search for it an put a link here but i'm lazy! :-p My car has been in the garage and had ignition coils checked which were fine. It had seemed to got better just before ...

Re: 1.4 tsi 160 missfire
I've had exactly the same issue this week. I was away on holiday for 2 weeks, arrived home and went to start car on saturday. Started no problem and no warning lights on. As i drove off it was hesitant under acceleration, shuddering and the engine / exhaust light came on. The light would alternate b...

Re: Rocco's and Snow
I've never understood why when we get an inch or two of snow the whole country grinds to a halt (especially down south)! Other nations cope with it all winter without a problem. Perhaps it's time winter tyres were compulsory in the UK between December and February. Can someone please give me a defin...

Re: Advice and Help!
Numbers don't look like they include interest. Would expect car price to be in the region of 23k if it included the interest. Balance after 42 months will be around 9-10k as VW will expect the car to be worth that at the end of the finance.

Re: Advice and Help!
I presume your getting it on PCP then if your paying a deposit of £6000 and then paying 42 months x £200.50 = £8421, so paying a total of £14421, then leaving £5393 to pay after the 42 months to own the car? If I'm right that is... Unfortunately you're not right....you have forgot to include a litt...

Re: Aftermarket mudflpas???
I have some universal rubber ones fitted. They are the same ones I fit to all my cars and just screw into the arch liner. I know some people on here don't like the look of them but it stops a lot of the dirt, tar and stone chips you would usually get along the side and on the back bumper. I actually...

Re: What optional extra could you not be without?
Cruise control! Ever since I had it in my Fabia Vrs, I would not spec a car without it. Very handy for motorways and all the average speed cameras that are popping up everywhere.
