Re: Water pump change?
I just did it on my rebuild. Easier as I have the engine out but you will probably have to take the intake off unless you can get to it underneath. The dealership will want about £200 for it, you will also need the belt and I changed the little rubber stopper between that and the oil cooler. Also n...

Water pump change?
I’m about to change my timing chain and tensioners as a pre-emptive move to my 97k miler 08 2.0 TSI.
Anyone know of the work involved doing this means it’s also worth doing the water pump at the same time?

Re: My 2.0 TSI
Quick update - mainly to say thanks for all the advice so far with various questions I’ve thrown at the forum. I was in two minds on keeping the car after a few weeks of electrical gremlins, 2.0 TSI scare stories, relatively high mileage and a recent flurry of EPC lights. The car is getting a new AB...

Re: Front lights condensation
Moisture getting in so often means removing the unit, drying and releasing back in place. Not sure how those units work, but sometimes you can remove the back so it’s effectively open air, go for a drive and leave it parked towards the sun for the day before sealing back up. Worked on an old headlig...

Re: 45F2 ABS/ESC safety recall
Thought it worth updating this thread three years on from the last post in case it helps anyone else, as I took my 2008 TSI in today for the ABS recall after doing a search online and finding out mine hadn’t had it done. VW asked me to be there before 0930 which I was, but then had the car the entir...

Classic VW Electrical Gremlins
Not sure why I thought it would be too different to my last VAG car (mk4 Golf), but after two weeks of ownership and three short trips out, the Rocco is complaining at me from all corners of the electrical gamut. I’ve recently had the EPC light come of for throttle position sensor (intermittent) and...

Timing chain specialist?
Thinking I might get my 97k mile 2009 timing chain and tensioner replaced. Contacted timing and engine specialists MKL Motors near me (London) who seemed to have very good reviews and were good to talk to. A little further from me is VDS Performance - again, specialist in timing chains for VAG cars....

Timing chain and tensioner life
So there are plenty of scare stories online talking of stretched chains, chains that jump and failed tensioners. This usually results in either catastrophic engine failure or best case scenario, £1500 to replace with suitable and upgraded parts. Realistically, is this really such an issue or is it u...

Re: Scirocco Recall: A12/0909/17
Great info. I tried to search earlier but didn’t see anything. Will get it sorted, but with one eye on potential linked follow up issues which I guess they’ll be liable to sort too.

Scirocco Recall: A12/0909/17
Just a heads up in case anybody hasn't had this sorted or been alerted. I did a random recall check on my 2009 car and got the following A12/0909/17 recall alert. Turns out there's a pretty serious ABS/ESP issue on cars built between 20/5/2008 and 28/8/2010. https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/consumers_...

P0221 EPC code

Thanks for the recommendation. I actually looked at the Xtron and it seemed really good. In the end though I wanted as close to OEM as possible so ordered the RCD330.

Servicing schedule?
Hi all. Just going through my newly acquired 2.0 TSI and service history seems a little scant. In its life I have a report showing the following: 02/10/09 10,114 miles Time & Distance service 30/09/2010 18,684 miles Inspection service (+1 year / +8570 miles) 29/05/2014 53,681 miles Used car MPC ...
