I’m about to change my timing chain and tensioners as a pre-emptive move to my 97k miler 08 2.0 TSI.
Anyone know of the work involved doing this means it’s also worth doing the water pump at the same time?

I just did it on my rebuild. Easier as I have the engine out but you will probably have to take the intake off unless you can get to it underneath. The dealership will want about £200 for it, you will also need the belt and I changed the little rubber stopper between that and the oil cooler. Also need coolant.

Great info jimjimjim. Will see what they want to charge me for parts and labour. Am hoping there may be some discount offered if Im doing at the same time as the chain. Sounds a worthwhile future-proof job if I'm leaving the car for a few days anyway.Jimjimjim wrote:I just did it on my rebuild.
