Re: Autoglym products

Why do you want Auto Glym specifically? Some bits are decent, but the formulas are years old so newer offerings do allow for better results. Custom Wheel Cleaner is actually very good - foams up well and is very safe to use. Clean Wheels is acid based and not something I'd use now if I'm honest. For...

Re: Had my car detailed on Sunday

It looks great now it's settled a bit Jeff.

What is the name of the suspension set up place you mentioned please? I can't find anything to replace my Ed30, so going to put ARB's on it and get it set up properly.

Re: How to keep candy white clean?

I did a white Rocco recently, take a read of this:

That should help you out process wise.

The advice above is spot on too!

Re: Had my car detailed on Sunday

Looking good you guys! What a difference a professional detail makes to a car. Russ, what advice would you have for maintaining that appearance after a detail? I had mine detailed (3-stage wax and polish) last week. I was advised to clean the car with microfibre cloths and avoid car washes (natch)....

Re: Had my car detailed on Sunday

looking good do you know what products he used? how much does something like this cost please? Hi Scott, The wax was Auto Finesse Desire, which is £119 a pot and is released today in fact! A protection detail like this is around the £100 mark. Oh and a pic with the Summer Wheels on... http://farm8....

Re: Should I take garage offer

I'd take a look at a coating like Optimum Opti Coat or GTechniq C1, which effectively forms a new, hard wearing sacrificial layer on top of your existing paintwork. These products also last a genuine 2 years and beyond. Any swirls or very light scratches will be in this layer, rather than the origin...

I'd be happy to take a look at it for you. I've done a few Candy White VW's recently, including Jody from Midland VW's Golf R and Deacon's Scirocco: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7048/6786458594_b11e7af348_z.jpg DSC03326 by RussZS , on Flickr http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7200/6932563715_fd5f295797_...

Re: What Transmission Option would you have?

Agree that you really need to try both, and I think it depends how much time you spend sat in traffic jams. I have a manual Edition 30 Golf, running 315BHP and I wish I'd have gone DSG now as it could handle a larger amount of power through the clutch, and I do spend a lot of time in traffic on the ...

Did the rain hold off on your way home? You'll be looking forward to it raining when you see the beading, especially from the Nanolex on the windscreen, it's great stuff!

Re: hard wax? soft wax or spray wax?

A sealant is generally the best bet on white and lighter metallics, as they are more 'reflective' than waxes, aiding the overall finish. I favour a couple, such as Zaino Z2 Pro and Auto Finesse Tough Coat, which I used on this with Rocco: http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6093/6223122459_72aed4b4fd_z.j...

Winter Protection Detail - VW Scirocco TSI

It's getting nippy out there folks! This morning saw me spend 4 hours or so decontaminating, then protecting the paintwork on this rather nice VW Scirocco 1.4 TSI. The aim of the day was to clean the paintwork as best as possible in the time given and lay some protection down for Winter, to ensure t...
