Autoglym products

Post by Garry74 »

I have taken delivery of my new CW Roc and wanted to buy some cleaning products. Is the Autoglym Custom Wheel Cleaner and their sealer any good? Or should I be getting the normal "clean wheels" version? Also whats a nice easy to apply wax/sealer? Is the Autoglym fast glass worth buying? Anything else? Something for the back trims to protect them?

On my old car I used one of them rubber strips to get rid of the water then wipe dry with soft tea towel. Is that wrong? Shammy leathers do my head in.

Why do you want Auto Glym specifically? Some bits are decent, but the formulas are years old so newer offerings do allow for better results.

Custom Wheel Cleaner is actually very good - foams up well and is very safe to use. Clean Wheels is acid based and not something I'd use now if I'm honest.

For the paint, I'd look at something like Auto Finesse Tripple (which is the 'polish') and Tough Coat (which is the protection - sealant).

Polished Bliss are doing a great 3 for 2 deal on the AF range at the moment, with free postage!!

I'd agree as above. I've got the Custom wheel kit and use it every now and then to spruce up my wheels and it does a good job. Not sure how much real protection the sealant provides.
For general washing I use snowfoam followed by wash using a mitt and rinse with pressure washer.
For protection I can strongly recommend Dodojuice Supernatural Hybrid. I applied 2 coats in Aug & Oct last year and I can stil feel the wax on the car and it's still beading like mad. It's not a quick and easy wax but once applied properly it lasts and lasts.

Thanks for the replies. i ended up getting Maguiars hot rim all wheel cleaner and some poor boys sealer. I've not got anything for the body yet.

Do some research on detailingworld where you will find lots of useful info. In the past I used alot of autoglym products and was always happy with them. Recently I have been using Optimum Optiseal and OCW on the bodywork because it is so easy (wipe on walk away) and gives a great look with minimum effort.
