Static Shock

Post by robmx »

Anyone else getting a static shock after they get out of their car and touch the doors to close them?

I've put up with this for ages, but it's started annoying me now, can be quite uncomfortable at times. Is it just normal, I've not seen anyone else complain on here and I know how fussy you all are  :D ??

Attach an earthing strap to rear tow hook. Or it could be your shoes/socks. Some say even ur underpants could have an effect lol

Hell no, I need some support, plus I wouldn't want to embarrass anyone ;) haha

I'm gonna have to take a note of what I'm wearing when it happens.

Altho I'm not attaching one of those straps too it, they remind me of the 80s far too much.

I find it depends on what footwear I have on trainers and work shoes no shock. When wearing shoes with a thick sole eg timberland boots then I get a shock

Yeah, apart from shuffling about in nylon underpants  it could be you shoes rubbing against your mats / carpet. What mats have you got on yours ?

The static shock is the gap jump as the built up static goes to earth - if there is no gap then there is no shock. Make sure you're already touching a metal part of the door frame when you put your foot out onto the floor when exiting the car.
