Hi please can anyone advise me on Cambelt with water pump replacement age or mileage?

My Scirocco...

65 plate 2.0TDI 150 (Stage 1)
41,000 on clock

VW UK recommend it's done every 5 years irrespective of mileage however, the factory service schedule just refers to mileage, 140k miles and no reference to age.
Personally for peace of mind I would change it at 5 years and did so on my car.

Thank you. At VW dealership they are quoting £549 fitted including water pump ?

I paid £399 at my local dealer back in 2016 for cambelt, tensioner and water pump.

That’s great there is a local VW/Skoda/Audi specialised here in York got to be cheaper than dealership. Is it a full day job? Thinking if I may need to book day off

Hi I have had a quote from VW and they quoted me for just the cambelt it’s self as the water pump is not belt driven? Is this right?

As far as I'm aware the water pump is driven by the cambelt on the diesel engine.
