I'm no expert on this (so please correct me if I'm wrong) but from what I gathered when I bought mine you can choose for fixed time/miles (1yr/10K) or the Longlife option. This option is changed with VAG-com. I took out the service-maintenance package when I bought it and had mine set to Longlife.
