Saw it in the 12th lebenese auto show, and not impressive at all. Actually its pretty boring, and you seem to move on to any other car. ie there was the rcz and behind it the seat stand where they had the bocanegra and the cupra so the rcz kinda sucked

I was wondering where it had got to trix!

So nobody likes it. Not suprising coming from roc owners Lol.

I think it looks quite good....don't like the front though.

Two of them parked in the Bullring in Birmingham at the entrance to Selfridges if anyone wants to see it in the flesh. Some nice exterior design but didn't have the impact in the flesh that i expected, quite dissapointing. The interior really doesn't live up to the bold exterior either, really bland even more run of the mill than the roc. I am sure it will sell but a Used TT or roc would be a better buy in my opinion if not as interesting to look at.

i sat in a RCZ at goodwood and think they havn't done a bad job given pugs of recent years, not much rear seat space but a huge boot but its not a hatch back, screams women of a certain age to me

Ive driven several of the recent Peugeots and they're awful!

The build quality is shit, the steering is unresponsive and the gear box is really really bad!

Despite that fact it looks 'ok' (at a push) its a pile of crap!

German or Japanese cars all the way!

Drove it a couple of days back. Steering feedback is bad, the ride is uncomfortable (too stiff suspension setting and unadjustable), but the gearbox is nice. And the built quality is good. The car is stylish indeed.

I'll keep my Roc .. :)

Plus the dealers are absolutely useless and Peugeot's customer service is awful. Had to deal with them because of a work van and we won't be again after next year when the van goes back!

The cars ugly anyway. Seems the sort of car an estate agent would buy.

Haven't actually seen one up close but a black one with black wheels drove past me the other day and I thought it looked pretty good. Needs hitting with the lowering stick though!

Fifth Gear - VW Scirocco v Peugeot RCZ

Post by bleedsoff »

Just seen it on was the 1.4 Roc v the 1.6 RCZ, happy to report more positive about the Roc but they are fast as each other. Anyone else see it?

Dunno why anyone would want the ugly RCZ!

And how the hell can you compare the ROC to Honda's stupid idea of a sports car!!!

I do not get this hybrid nonsense. 50 odd MPG, not that far ahead of the 1.4 TSI and less than a TDI. Bizarre comparison as well comparing it with the Roc. The RCZ looked a bit leary in the corners, Tiff was struggling to keep it on the track

I've recently driven the 156 THP RCZ, the 163 hp diesel RCZ and a 200 hp Audi TT quattro S-tronic. The Audi had a standard chassis (ie. no magnetic ride) and I found the RCZ to be a tiny bit more comfortable than the TT. There was no big difference in stiffness, but the TT seemed a bit more civilized since the RCZ was a bit noisy over certain potholes. Compared to both the RCZ and the TT, my Scirocco's non-DCC chassis feels soft, so there's not much wrong with RCZ's ride. It's just meant to be sportier, just like the TT's. Steering feedback could be better. The feel is meatier than in the Scirocco or TT, but it also feels more artificial. The RCZ also feels nimbler and more willing to change direction than either (at least in low speeds), however.

In my opinion Peugeot has managed to tick a lot of good boxes with the RCZ and is definitely moving in a good direction. The biggest downside in the RCZ (besides the fact that I think the 308-nose is not very pretty) is the lack of that feeling of quality. The interior looks very nice, but there are a few ergonomy issues and some of the controls feel and sound like they're taken out of a car that costs far less than the RCZ does. Also, the diesel version I drove had a squeaky dash even though it had been driven less than 1500 miles, but I guess the price difference between the RCZ and the TT is bound to show also in the smaller details.

All in all I think people easily underestimate the RCZ just because it's a Peugeot. It might not be a TT, but then again it's also considerably cheaper and I wouldn't blame anyone for getting one. Just don't buy the diesel if you have a heavy right foot - the engine sounds awful when revving. ;)
