Re: Fancy your GT with a bit of dealer installed R
Bit dissapointing really. I thought they would be offering individual bits not just the full upgrade package. Plus how are the dealers doing the remap? They are charging one thousand pounds for the remap and labour and the remap is just plug in and go so it's all labour really. Would be nice to have it official through the dealer but not at that price
Re: Fancy your GT with a bit of dealer installed R
with you on that baikar but i think its more for the people who are keen to make sure they have a manufacturer warrenty on everything. the spring price isn't so bad

I think they are overpriced too. Just wonder which dept is making the killing. Think the springs are 150 and labour should be about the same so that's 350 max fitted Inc wheel aligntrix wrote:with you on that baikar but i think its more for the people who are keen to make sure they have a manufacturer warrenty on everything. the spring price isn't so bad

Re: Fancy your GT with a bit of dealer installed .:R
As Andy correctly said alot is just rebranded items available from elsewhere. The exhaust is made by milltek , springs by kw. Do you think the remaps are superchips as that's who they use for the race cars? Reason I ask is that it seems they are going to start supplying selected vw dealers with power upgrade kits but as usual the dealer has way inflated prices. If I thought it was just superchips Id go with the bluefin myself.
Re: Fancy your GT with a bit of dealer installed .:R
they are just appealing to the part of the market that what to do mods but want the vw warranty Baikar & suitably inflating the cost for the priviledge.
if you do the mods from the various companies direct & aren't worried about having that little piece of paper saying vw warranty (including modifications x, y & z) then good for you you save a packet

Any estimates on when information about this will start to appear at the dealerships?

Is the UK going to get the R-line spec that is appearing in other parts or Europe?
Germany etc get sport spec instead of our GT and it looks as though the R-line spec will bridge the gap between the sport and Scirocco R.

Re: Fancy your GT with a bit of dealer installed .:R
ok ok ok hold on one sec. So now we have as models: 2.0 tsi's and tdi's and the 1.4's tsi and tdi. Then they (vw) added the scirocco type r. Now there is a kit called r-line. Well heres a question to all of you: If the r-line kit will caust less than the scirocco type-r and you get only 15 horsepower less, why would anyone purchase the type r??????????????????? And in both you get the same interior same options. The only difference is that the exaust in the type-r is on the left and the right of the back bumper. Thats really stupid on the part of vw, because from now on people would purchase the scirocco gt and then add the r-line kit and would end up paying less then people buying the type-r. Am i right or wrong ?

Re: Fancy your GT with a bit of dealer installed .:R
I think your right and wrong.
If you bought a R line 2.0 GT and then added the VW performance pack at £1500 to get you 250bhp, I would imagine you'd be at the same price near enough as a Rocco R base model, with 15bhp less, bigger breaks and other chassis tweeks of the R and the black styling and front bumper bits + £850 Xennons.
But I do agree, I can't see the point of the R line models, and I saw a Passat R line the other day, and it ain't no R36 model look a like thats for sure.
And back on topic, I don't think £1500 for the upgrade with total peace of mind warranty is a bad price. However I guess its + VAT so you have to factor that too.

Re: Fancy your GT with a bit of dealer installed .:R
I realise the price is a bit steep but I'm wondering if there might be room for negotiation whilst my cars in being serviced and I do like the idea of making sure everything's still covered by warranty.
Tempted by some lowering springs pending what my insurance company say about it! Has anyone had any of the official VW Racing R kits installed at their dealer? Would I be right in thinking any dealer would be willing to order/fit these kits if I approached them or is it only selected dealerships?

I'm pretty sure it's selected dealerships only.

I like the sound of that. In all reality if it was like a standard option, £1499 is pretty good - bearing in mind xeons cost £930.
Although I havent got my car yet. So probably best to drive it for a year and a bit, then look at having that done. Doubt I'd have R line body kit though, my car isnt a Scirocco R. Just want the performance.

i disgree there is a lot of 'dealer tax' in these figures, trust me if you aren't fussed by the warranty i'd go direct to VWR in MK especially now they are revo dealers as wellfun meter wrote:£1499 is pretty good

Yeh, there probably is. But im one of those people who likes to stay under warranty. I can drive it hard without any real worry, even if something goes bang.
Re: Fancy your GT with a bit of dealer installed .:R
only thing thats gone bang so far is a £50 dv valve (given mines an early car) in 30k of driving with 23k mapped, bearing in mind my vw dealer was incapable of diagnosing this had gonefun meter wrote:Yeh, there probably is.
