Scirocco R; awesome! but what's next?

i'd like to see a rocco r in the spirit of the 968cs, put it on a diet with some decent seats and stripped out interior, improved suspension with no acc, lightweight wheels and a proper lsd

A 4wd roc wil never happen due to development costs of the rear axel, although i don't know why they cant use the one from a passat R36 . I'd imagine a few years down the line the roc r will get a slight facelift and an extra 10 bhp.

Don't listen to the Jap car haters. At the end of the day the are differnt types of car, in my opinion. The roc is supposed to be a coupe - style over substance but it's still a pretty quick car in it's own right. Scoobies and Evos are the fastest point to point B road cars on UK roads, fact! You get a poor interior (apart from the seats usually) but great handling and performance for your money. They are not the best looking cars (especially in recent years) but you have to remember the earlier cars were designed for rallying and simply haven't evolved too well since then. They tend to have a great following and meets/events are great fun. You'll meet some proper anoraks but they are generally really nice friendly people from my experience. The only problem is that as the older cars have become so much cheaper that there's a lot of chavs picking up tatty examples. As a result they have a stigma attached to them. Oh, and there will always be somone with a way faster car than you, so don't go chasing BHP figures or you'll be crying yourself to sleep every night.

Have to admit I specced up a cayman s last week. Think I'll wait for the right second hand example to come along in a few years

Now that would be sweet and would fulfill many requirements as well as the obvious performance ones - the lower weight would mean improved fuel consumption and emissions, etc

Have to admit I specced up a cayman s last week. Think I'll wait for the right second hand example to come along in a few years

£30k for cayman s with loads of extras and 10k miles! not bad at all!
plus porsches last forever and ever! the absolute ultimate in german build quality.
997 turbo would be within budget in 2013 methinks. always loved that car

Then you get the lovely parts and servicing prices to look forward to, knowing some rich person has run it into the ground cuz they will get a new 1 in a year ...no thanks

I remember a few years ago reading somewhere that of all the 911's ever built, something like 80% were still in use. Some impressive statistic, however I'm not sure the same applies to all the other models they built, 924's, 944's, 928's Boxters etc.
These 'lesser' Porsches were probably built in greater numbers and used as 'ordinary' cars rather than treasured and wrapped in cotton wool like many 911's are.
