Re: Bird poo!
Had the same thing with my Passat a few years back after it looked like an Golden Eagle had dumped on it! Unfortunately I never cured it. If anyone knows whether this is repairable without a respray I'd love to know how to do it.

Re: Bird poo!
If the bird poo has etched into the lacquer there are two ways of removing it... you can either polish the marks out by hand, using something like Meguiars Sracth-X or a Fine Polish such as 3M Extra Fine or Menzerna Final Finish... and a lot of elbow grease!
Alternatively you can machine polish the marks out - this process will cut away the very top microns of lacquer, which will remove the etched in marks.
Hope this helps

Re: Bird poo!
Cheers guys. If I have a go with some polish is it just a case of polishing the area, or will the part I've polished end up looking different to the rest? Do I need to reseal it afterwards with anything other than wax?

Re: Bird poo!
I rather got the impression that the problem I had was that the acid in it it had worked through the laquer to the paint below. This is because I tried polishing (not waxing) it and it had absolutely no effect at all. Maybe wrong of course, often am!Spiney wrote:Had the same thing with my Passat a few years back after it looked like an Golden Eagle had dumped on it! Unfortunately I never cured it. The lesson I leaned was to get rid of it as soon as possible and not to buy a black car again!
