No wait or not to wait?

Post by gogglez »

Hello Peeps,

I've recently decided to fork out for my dream car which is the scirocco GT 2.0 2010 onwards.

As im not minted like some of you, ill need to purchase second hand :P.

I'm looking for the following variations:

White/Blue
Leather interior
Panoramic Sun Roof
Upgraded Black Rims (optional as I will buy a set from ebay otherwise)
Under 60k mileage (below 50k pref)
No more than 11.5K (including haggle)

My problem is that I cannot find any from a garage/trader which have the above combinations, are they rare? would you wait?

Basically im asking - What would you do in my situation?

I probably should have mentioned my current car is on the way out but transport is manageable as im using a motorbike.

Cheers,

Chris

I picked up a 61 plate 2.0tsi gt with 45000 on it for £11500 after haggling with my part exchange price, sticker price was 12500 on the forecourt

It doesn't have a pano roof though but does have leather & black alloys

the dealer was Louth volksworld

If you wait you will find one

Welcome, Chris. I assume the title is meant to be 'To wait or not to wait?'...

If I were you, I'd save up for a bit, until you can afford to spend £30,000 or thereabouts on a new one - then you can customise it exactly to your liking, and not have to worry about its history. If it's the dream car you want, it'll be worth the wait...

Good luck, whatever you decide!

2.0 petrol or diesel?

Have you looked to see whether or not there are any private sales around which meets your requirements?

Where are you located as I've been toying with the idea of selling mine, which meets the majority of your requirements and some more, if it's a diesel you after. My mileage is 63k though.

Thanks all for the replies!

Petrol as I only drive a very short commute

Yes, there are but I will be buying with finance so will need to go through a garage without ridiculous loan offers

I'm afraid its not possible, im a single "young man" and saving to buy a house - £30,000 is a massive deposit in my eyes, there's always the lottery right? :P

Thats awsome dude! Kinda the price im looking for to be honest, I wont be part ex'ing my vehicle as will be selling it privately

You're correct! Sitting my neice and typing on a forum usually isnt the best way to go and the proof is in the pudding lol, but needs must! :P

So basically, you'd say wait until the right one comes along?

I've found one and it looks a dream but trying to get them down on price:

Yes, petrol makes more sense in that case.

The wheels on that car are 18" Interlagos painted black as opposed to the OEM black 19" Luganos. Confirmed with the silver trim inside the car. OEM Black Luganos also came with black vent surrounds and dash inserts as part of the pack as opposed to the standard silver items.

The sneeky buggers, would you say its overpriced? I've seen a few like this... must have been a common thing for people to do?

Yes, it's quite common for Interlagos wheels to be painted black.

Yes, I would say ot's well overpriced. In my opinion, it's a 12k car at the most.

If that's the case, bare in mind a loans much better APR than a dealers finance package... Just a thought!

Hey.

I've recently decided to try and get one too, an R. I found one with the right spec more or less immediately, the garage had had to for a month, the day after I phoned up with interest, it was sold. FML, right? So will wait until another comes up.

So anyway, I think waiting is the best policy. Make sure you get the one you're after - although if you wait too long, you run the danger of building it up too much and being disappointed :)

The garage i'm speaking to the APR is 5% - seems quite competitive but ill certainly ask on the interest rate beforehand :)

I was looking at the R's, lovely bits of kit - found a pretty standard 2011 one with 55K on the clock for 11K, insurance is only £100 different between that and the 2.0 TSI so definitely an option!

I hope your car will come up soon mate, I feel your pain! :eyepop:
