So I've owned my pride and joy candy white Scirocco since Feb this year and I've slowly done a few modest mods on a tight budget. (excuse the quality of the photos, they are all just quick mobile snapshots )
So first thing done was to matt black out the vw emblems with the use of plastidip, it was my first time using the product and I am very pleased with the result
I masked up a rough square around the emblem, sprayed a good 4 coats of plastidip, waited for it to fully dry, and then just simply peeled away the excess.
Here's a pic of the front emblem blacked out and the red pinstripe I had added to the lower grill.
I then decided to change up the lower grill after seeing a few other examples of painted lower grills on the forum
Lower grill removed.
After hours of sanding the grill completely flat, it was ready for masking and paint!
I used a white plastic primer along with a white base coat and then a clear coat to finish it off.
After leaving it to dry over night I wet sanded it down until flat and then gave it a good polish and wax!
And here's the finished result. I'm very happy with how it turned out and think it gives the car a nice little styling update
Next I'm hopping to do a few interior mods ( new sat nav and black interior trim) and then maybe a gloss black wrap on the roof. I'll be sure to post the updates

Thanks man, it's really not that hard at all, does take some time to get it right but if you take your time sanding it flat and prepping it you shouldn't have any issues once painted its quite easy to get a good finish if you just wet sand it down completely and buff it out. I am by no means a pro so anyone can do it

Re: Modding on a budget
So this past weekend I started going a little interior mods
I sprayed all the interior trim panels piano black, huge improvement in my opinion. Next up was to upgrade the radio I looked into getting an OEM sat nav but after looking at the price and what features it actually had I decided to take a chance and buy an aftermarket sat nav system from an online store...
I am very happy with the unit! to my suprise great build quality, HD 6" screen and great navigation software. The system includes, radio, dvd, aux, usb, 3g, ipod connectivity, DVR, tv tuner, bluetooth, sat nav and onboard diagnostics. Looks quite stock as well which I like.
I decided to use one of the spare blank buttons as a point to mount the usb.
In all I think it was a good purchase and doesn't look bad for the price

Hey, car looks amazing!!
just a question, where did you get the new unit? does it connect with the usb/aux in the arm rest?
thanks

Thanks man,
I bought it from http://www.stopshop.co.za" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, I had used them years ago on my polo and was very happy with their service and products.
Mine didn't come with a USB under the armrest, only an aux input but that works perfectly with the unit, as does the steering wheel controls
