peterg and i went halves on a vagcom lead which finally arrived today, about time the london rocco crew had one of these. also means the next couple of mini-mods i've been scheming and messing with could happen this weekend!

Well on that note may I take this opportunity to recommend dodo juices harder wax. Not only is it really easy to work with the end product is also second to none in my opinion. Re: Victor
puddle lights and chrome switches
so vw don’t give you door puddle lights these days it seems so took it upon myself to make and install some blue ones to match the footwells and needles. also really liked the chrome tipped window and boot switches from the facelift rocco so bought a set of those to install while the door cards were off. also got a vagcom lead to activate the puddle lights. here's what happened:
bought three sets of puddle lights off eBay so i could try out different combinations and have spares should something go wrong. about £20 quid per set.
set 1: red and white lenses with white leds pointing to the floor, red side of door
set 2: red and white lenses with blue leds pointing to the floor, red side of door
set 3: clear lenses with white leds floor and side
![Image](http://www.quietresonance.com/rocco/victor/puddle_lights/puddle_lights_1.jpg)
things i used:
trim removal tools, torx screwdrivers t10, t20, t25 sizes (i think), spare door trim clips, leds, anti rattle tape, soldering stuff, heat proof putty, vagcom, tiny screwdriver for window switch removal
these were converted with soldering, snipping, painting, etc into:
set 1: as they were; red sides, white bottom
set 2: black and white lenses with blacked out door sides and blue led shining on floor
set 3: clear lenses with blue leds on sides and floor
![Image](http://www.quietresonance.com/rocco/victor/puddle_lights/puddle_lights_2.jpg)
![Image](http://www.quietresonance.com/rocco/victor/puddle_lights/puddle_lights_3.jpg)
next was doors off. not too bad, used trim tools to avoid scratching plastics and worked from underneath the grab handle, then prised it open round and over the top. if it did scratch it’d be on the underside and not too noticeable, luckily it didn't. unclip door release hook and free up various switch input wires, then the card is off.
![Image](http://www.quietresonance.com/rocco/victor/puddle_lights/puddle_lights_4.jpg)
![Image](http://www.quietresonance.com/rocco/victor/puddle_lights/puddle_lights_5.jpg)
removed the door controller harness (purple release catch) and slid it out of the casing. clipped in puddle light wires. red into slot 18 and black into slot 19. there’s a number 17 written on the side of the white harness to help locate these.
![Image](http://www.quietresonance.com/rocco/victor/puddle_lights/puddle_lights_6.jpg)
![Image](http://www.quietresonance.com/rocco/victor/puddle_lights/puddle_lights_7.jpg)
reassemble harness, wrap and secured to other wires with anti-rattle tape.
![Image](http://www.quietresonance.com/rocco/victor/puddle_lights/puddle_lights_8.jpg)
hook up and boot vagcom, go into door electric driver and passenger modules and add 64 to the coding value.
![Image](http://www.quietresonance.com/rocco/victor/puddle_lights/puddle_lights_9.jpg)
![Image](http://www.quietresonance.com/rocco/victor/puddle_lights/puddle_lights_10.jpg)
and they came on!
![Image](http://www.quietresonance.com/rocco/victor/puddle_lights/puddle_lights_11.jpg)
![Image](http://www.quietresonance.com/rocco/victor/puddle_lights/puddle_lights_12.jpg)
new set of trim clips for the doors and reassemble.
![Image](http://www.quietresonance.com/rocco/victor/puddle_lights/puddle_lights_13.jpg)
will get a better pic of them one night soon with the other variants i made:

2 layers of tinted wrap, happy with these now, matches the black dash trim nicely.
