I drive a: GT 2.0 TSI
In: Deep Black
With a: DSG box
Options: 19" lugano alloys, sat nav, heated seats, 2 zone climate control, DRL, leather, bluetooth, 65% tinted B pillars back, roof spoiler, footwell lights, ACC,

REVO stage 1
H&R 35mm springs
Magnex cat back exhaust
Pipercross cold air induction kit
TPI 12mm spacers all round

Check deadlock?

Hi guys,

Just picked up my new roc and when I turn off the engine I notice it says in the MFD "check deadlock, owners manual"

I assume this isn't normal?

Car is under warranty so just want it fixed and to go into dealer with some knowledge on the issue

Anyone here experienced it?

Car also told me to check third brake light but then went off after engine on and off ... Not check if it's working yet as I was busy but will tomorrow ... Bloody wiggly amps

It is normal and happens every time you turn ignition off and take the key out. It's so that you don't deadlock the car with somebody still inside. When deadlocked the door handles inside won't work so anyone stuck inside would have to smash windows to get out. I believe that's what it is anyway. Been a while since I have seen this asked.

Cant say i've seen this in mine to be honest....? Manual car?

I'm not sure when it was introduced or if it's manual only. Wouldn't of thought it would be restricted to manual.
My car is a sep 2012.

I got my car yesterday and was wondering the same thing. Is a DSG Scirocco R! 2013

59 Rocco doesnt do it. But my 12 Seat Ibiza Fr does it. So must have started between 2010 and 2012 :)

Hello,

Googled it and it was exactly what a few people have mentioned relating to reminding you the car has a deadlock lol

Sorry I just assumed it was a fault as it says check owners manual with exclamation marks!!!

Bit dramatic VW :shake:
