OK... we all know we've got one of the best looking cars on the road & it's got performance to match (speaking for the 2.0 TSI boys anyhoos ) but what sold you initially... be honest
Hands up for me... I was as shallow as they come... I saw it last September when VAG had a fleet car showday at work & fell head over heels in lust with the looks of it.... & thank the lord it had the grunt & the handling to match
How about you ? Are you as shallow as me or to give a classic metaphor would you do a minger so long as she went like the clappers ?
came from a modded GTi running 255-260 BHP so was a tad disappointed to see the roc launch with "only" 200 BHP, I feel they should of gone with a K04 equipped engine from the off. As I have mentioned on other threads, having driven APS's highly modded edition 30 running 330BHP even my Milltek equipped remapped rocco does not feel too fast. I do also find it a tad awkward from certain angles, beautiful from others.
The thing that sold it to me was the heritage of the original MK1 roc and the fact that it was a completely fresh look for VW. Its not completely new look though, you do see similarities with the older model civic hatch (flame me on that if you like) and also the C30 Volvo.
Still loving it though for now, until I take the plunge on a K04 upgrade that is
Taken delivery : Silver, DSG, NAV, Black Leather, Park Sensors, Winter pack.
Mods: Full Milltek, KW lowering springs,Wheel Spacers, Remapped to 258BHP, 405Nm
i went for perfomance given the rave reviews in the handling department, ride height and lack of grunt (compared to K04 power) did niggle but both resolved now, car does looks stunning from some angles but certain views of the rear makes it look a bit awkard, its a car that does have knickers as well as a fur coat
The performance did leave me a little cold when I got to finally drive it and will be adding bluefin to hopefully rectify this at the earliest opportunity.
It was the looks that swung it for myself and it does look great.
now modified with dump valve, boost gauge in custom made vent, "gt" steering wheel badge, carbon fibre badges, rs4 wheels, lowered 35mm, private plate S18OCO, custom de-cat and cat back exhaust with quad tips, air filter behind fog lamp heat wrapped, customised front bumper grills painted gloss black, customised rear bumper smoothed and lower spoiler painted gloss black, mouldings and mirrors sprayed in gloss black, gloss black roof and rear spoiler, colour coded dash trims, door trims, centre console trims and rear seat trims, led fog light bulbs, s3 intercooler, audi a4 "S line" gear knob, newspeed hi-flow throttle body pipe, newspeed hi-flow turbo pipe, uprated dog mount bush, front to back and side to side quickshift, 20mm front spacers
i cant really cast a vote on this one, as i bought it for the looks but they needed improving (in my eyes), but also because of the tuning (improvement needed again lol) that is available for it, as the standard 200bhp is ok i suppose but its so easy to get close to the 300bhp mark with the standard turbo.
Looks...as I generally don't care much about performance...I mean a stop-signal is still a stop signal, no matter how fast your car can pull...you are bound to get the other soon. Same as driving on the highway...maximum speed is maximum speed, no matter how fast you care pulls up to 100km/h in those few less/extra seconds...but that's me...looks like Im the only one with a 1.4 TSI...

You're not the only one. I also got a 1.4 TSI. But I live in Norway and here the 2.0 is ridiculously exspensive (starting at about £41,000 ). My roc is "only" £35,000 with some extras..
I saw the Scirocco for the first time a early morning, half asleep on the bus to work, in october last year. Never woken up that fast before!!! It was love at first sight!! So definitively looks that did it for me. And now I own that exact car! (It was a demo car at the local VW dealership).

O...wow...I had to pay 6000 euro more for 1.4 to 2.5 few seconds extra....no thank you...I rather save some pocket money, at 1) ordering and 2) Gas on the longer run, to invest it and get some more money to finally buy my mercedes...
