New Rocco Owner today - iPhone problem

Post by samwhunt »

Hi

I have been browsing the site for the last couple of weeks in the run up to today when I finally got my Candy White, 11 Plate, 1.4 (160) beauty.

I just have a few first day questions that I'm hoping the helpful community could answer:

1) The car has the RND (non sat nav version) and only came with a USB MDI connection cable. In my excitement I connected my iPhone using the USB cable but to no avail. Upon reading up on here, do I have to buy a 30pin adapter? If so can anyone recommend a site?

2) In relation to the above, someone mentioned about updating the RND software, I know this would be needed for those with a sat nav, but do I/can I update the RND software?

I think that's it for the moment! Unfortunately the endless rain slightly ruined the first drive :(

Thanks in advance. Sam

Buy the 30pin to lightning adaptor that has the 0.2m cable. Apple genuine is the only one I'd trust. I got lucky on ebay and got one for £17.

USB connected to the mdi then iphone/iPod lead from that to your device will not work. If you got the car from a vw dealer go back and tell them you want the 30pin iPod mdi lead as they are supplied new with the car.

Sorry I missed the bit that you didn't have the MDI/iphone cable.

I have the RNS 510 in my 2011 rocco, am I right in assuming I need to connect my iphone 5 with my music on to the aux and it will be stored on the hard drive?? If so what connection do I need??

As above, then all control is done via the system
