Hi
I have been browsing the site for the last couple of weeks in the run up to today when I finally got my Candy White, 11 Plate, 1.4 (160) beauty.
I just have a few first day questions that I'm hoping the helpful community could answer:
1) The car has the RND (non sat nav version) and only came with a USB MDI connection cable. In my excitement I connected my iPhone using the USB cable but to no avail. Upon reading up on here, do I have to buy a 30pin adapter? If so can anyone recommend a site?
2) In relation to the above, someone mentioned about updating the RND software, I know this would be needed for those with a sat nav, but do I/can I update the RND software?
I think that's it for the moment! Unfortunately the endless rain slightly ruined the first drive
Thanks in advance. Sam

Buy the 30pin to lightning adaptor that has the 0.2m cable. Apple genuine is the only one I'd trust. I got lucky on ebay and got one for £17.

USB connected to the mdi then iphone/iPod lead from that to your device will not work. If you got the car from a vw dealer go back and tell them you want the 30pin iPod mdi lead as they are supplied new with the car.

Sorry I missed the bit that you didn't have the MDI/iphone cable.

As above, then all control is done via the systemDannyR wrote:Buy the 30pin to lightning adaptor that has the 0.2m cable. Apple genuine is the only one I'd trust. I got lucky on ebay and got one for £17.
