Air-con not working !

Post by Skollers »

Hi guys, I was under the assumption that my Roc needed regasing, I had this done on Saturday, checked all the fuses & plugged into Vagcom & found out its just not working Boo !

I have contacted my warranty company to tell them my compressor has packed up & yes it's covered yippee, so left it to my local garage who is gonna sort all the paperwork out & hopefully get it sorted ASAP.

It's 22.5 out there, balls hopefully not for too long lol

Chances are the compressor centre bolt has come loose, happened on my 2009 Scirocco. VW specialist in York wanted to replace compressor, luckily was still in warranty with VW in York who simply re-tightened bolt.

Morning Lloyd, is this an easy fix, does the compressor have to come off the car to do this ?

I'm unsure as VW did it, luckily had a few months left of warranty at the time. I wouldn't of thought it be too difficult. Case of taking the plastic trim underneath engine off and having a look I guess. One way of telling though is you can actually see the compressor above. So start the engine with a/c on. Open bonnet and look down for the compressor, it runs off the auxillary belt. Looking at its pulley you should be able to see the centre bolt. If this isn't spinning at all with the pulley that should just mean the bolt needs to be re-tightened or removed lock threaded and re done.

Had mine in the dealers for an air con fault, i.e. not cooling, they say they need the car for 3 days, to do some wiring mods , i have to say I'm a bit worried about all this, they told my wife they need to remove the dash??

Morning guys, quick update with the car, had the warranty company meet me yesterday to asses my car, it's worked out to be the compressor which is covered under warranty, yay, the garage where the work is being carried out will have delivery of the new Hella compressor from Germany today, car is booked in for Tuesday to be sorted.

Very happy !
