A few niggles

Post by stono »

Hi folks,
Got my scirocco a few weeks ago (used, 3 years old) and i've had a few niggles with it.
First is the annoying rattle coming from the back, so from searching the forum this seems to be related to the Tailgate - so i'll have a go at sorting this myself.

Now the second niggle which I couldn't really find much on was relating to the driver side window. The seal between the window and the door, for appox 5cm from the door sil up the window doesn't quite press against the window. This results in a bit of noise (as in, can hear other cars passing) on the motorway, and, quite comically, getting soaked when someone with a pressure washer sprays the window!

Now the seal looks perfectly intact, isn't deformed in anyway.
Has anyone else experienced this? The seal is hollow so I was thinking maybe pierce a small hole in it and fill it with some sort of foam to pad it out at the bottom?

Thoughts?
cheers

I get this on the passenger side with the Mrs constantly saying she can hear a lot of wind noise (but not feel it, oddly). Also getting a really really infuriating rattle from that door in particular.

No idea how to fix it I'm afraid but at least you know you're not the only one. Ill have it in the dealers at some point and see what they do with it.

I get the same, wind roar from the drivers side but no wind, the dealer says it's ok and to the correct tolerance but he doesn't have to live with it. Personally I think it's all to do with the frameless design which quite honestly I don't see the point of in a hardtop, it's not even as if a soft-top is an option.

Ok so the creak is definitely coming from the offside tailgate boot opening thingymagic, as i can hear it if i press the boot on the outside. Sounds like it needs replacing rather than adjusting tbh, it's squeeky all the way down when you press it

That's good to hear. I found them a tighter fit than the old ones as the rubber gasket was thicker so took some force to fit them!
