Yea its a bit frustrating that the VW MDI cable does not work. My advice would be buy the adapter with the 0.2m extention on it, the basic adapter can be a bit short if you try and put the phone under the armrest. I would second that, we bought both types and the Apple converter with the 0.2m cable...
